December 26 is when Community Rescue Service (CRS) are holding their ‘Making Waves’ sea swim fundraiser, details of which are on the accompanying poster🎄💦🏊🏻🏊🏻‍♀️🏊🏻‍♂️🪧!
Please come along to Crawfordsburn that morning - CRS and Susan would greatly appreciate your presence, either in the sea by way of a quick dip, or with a show of moral support from the shore, to help raise awareness and funds for this important cause 🥰🙏🏽.
Hot drinks and snacks will be provided for swimmers post-splash, and Belfast 89s gonna be playing - what more could one ask for, eh 🏖️⛺️☕️📻🎶🥳😃!

It’s Sunday and here comes the Mermaid drumming up support for her show later 🌊🧜🏼‍♀️ 🪘😃!
During a window between shows last week, Mermaid Susan sloped off to a fun drum workshop held in Belfast’s Sangam Studio ✨. Antimony Drummers Rod and Matt led the session which saw the Mermaid enthusiastically banging on her darbuka alongside friends and fellow percussion and bellydance devotees 🥰😁.
Come 8pm Mermaid Susan will be in Studio One and hoping you’ll be able to join her for two hours of retro jams and craic to help round off your weekend 🙂. She’ll be playing timeless tunes from the 60s, 70s and 80s, including some great covers, and would love your company 🎧 🎶🗣️🎙️♥️.

Newtownabbey’s Loughshore Trail seems to be becoming something of a hotspot for ephemeral art installations 🤩. The Mermaid couldn’t help but be intrigued at the appearance of this marine creature made of driftwood, seaweed and flotsam on the beach at Whiteabbey this week - a ‘sea-horse’ perhaps, or salty old sea dog 🏖️🧜🏼‍♀️🪵🌿🪾🐎 🐶😍🤔?
Cruisin’ Susan’s sitting in for Master of Mayhem Terry Whyte in Studio Uno this evening and is hoping you’ll ‘Keep The Faith’ and join her on the 89 airwaves anytime between 7pm and 10pm 🙂.

At last the Mermaid has new wheels and is going places yay 🎉🌊🧜🏼‍♀️🛞😬!
Thanks to a regular listener, Mermaid Susan’s now the proud owner of this groovy classic VW Beetle that’s been lovingly reconditioned and painted in Michael Óg’s north Belfast mancave 📻🎵🖌️🪲✨.
Not unlike Santa’s grotto, Michael’s mancave is where he enjoys listening to Belfast 89 whilst busying himself breathing new life into vintage toy and model cars which have seen better days 🕺🏻👨🏻‍🎨🎨🚗👏🏽. The chief inspirations behind this wonderful hobby are his beloved grandsons Finn and Beau who live in Australia and are the recipients of most of Michael’s salvaged and restored vehicles, what lucky wee men 👦🏻🍀☺️👶🏻!
Thank you kindly dear Michael for so generously gifting the Mermaid such a gorgeous pull-back Beetle Bug and also for keeping it 89 - you’re a gem 💎🥰🙏🏽.
