Huge congratulations to the Bangor Lions, the mini-rugby team from that we proudly sponsored to go on tour to Italy last weekend.

The Lions took part in the Pino Valle di Imperia Tournament in Imperia, which saw them compete against U12 teams from all over Italy. The Lions were buoyed by messages of support from a wealth of rugby royalty, including Bangor, Ulster and Ireland’s own Stuart McCloskey, former British and Irish Lion Jared Payne, and most fittingly, Dick Milliken, a member of the 1974 British & Irish Lions ‘Invincibles’ tour and grandfather of current Bangor Lion Oliver Campbell.

The Lions gave a very good account of themselves by reaching the semi-finals of the tournament before being defeated by the eventual tournament winners Biella from Milan. However, the Lions did bring home some silverware by defeating their hosts Imperia Rugby 5-0 with tries from Sonny Bryans, George Armstrong and Robbie Parker among others. The victory secured the Bangor Lions the Columbanus Cup in front of a jubilant crowd of Bangor supporters who made the most of the great hospitality that was afforded to them during the tour.

A huge thanks to everyone involved and best of luck to these fine young men as they continue their rugby journey.

ALT Animation are proud to be sponsoring the P7 ‘Lions’ rugby team’s end of season tour to Italy. The team are looking forward to rounding off an incredibly impressive season by taking part in the 10th Pino Valle di Imperia Tournament in Imperia, Italy on the 1st June where they will take on teams from all over Italy, including Fiamme Pro from Rome, A.S.D. Moncalieri from Turin and Superba Rugby From Genoa. In addition to the tournament, the Bangor Lions will also take on Imperia Rugby, the mini rugby section for Union Riviera Rugby, in the second annual Columbanus Cup which was established last year by both Bangor and Imperia Minis as part of the Columbanus Project. Bangor Lions will be looking to bring the trophy back to Bangor for the first time.

The team was honoured to have Ulster and Irish 7s rugby player, Aaron Sexton present them with their jerseys and kit ahead of their tour. Aaron, himself a former Bangor mini-rugby player a few short years ago, wished the team well as they embarked on their once-in-a-lifetime trip to represent Bangor, Ulster and Ireland on the international stage.

We are pleased to announce that we have received an international business development award from the UK Global Screen Fund. The funding will help us to build out our development slate whilst also engage in research and development of new animation pipelines. Many thanks to the BFI and DCMS for their support and we are excited about working with them to grow the company over the coming years.

And congrats to our friends at Italic Pig and Wild Child Animation who also received awards.

Look forward to seeing the screen sector continue to grow with this much needed support.

We are delighted that ‘Mimi’s World’ has been nominated for an Irish Animation Award in the 'Best VFX in Animation’ category! It’s an honour to be nominated alongside such amazing projects as ‘The Cup Head Show’, ‘My Father’s Dragon’, ‘The Imagination Machine’ and ‘Wendell and Wild’.

Proud of our team for doing such an amazing job of the VFX on the series and the fine folks over at who worked on the series with us. And thanks to for giving us the opportunity to work on her wonderful show and the team at for helping us get it across the line! And not forgetting for all their support which helped us bring the show to Northern Ireland.
