When Brazilian saxophonist and band leader Spok discovered his maternal ancestors were from Cameroon, he began composing this week’s featured album. “Raízes” mixes the music influences of both countries on tonight's Around the World with Davy Sims at 10pm.
There’s a lot of music from Africa this week: desert blues from Imarhan, Tamikrest, and Tinariwen, experimental Arabic music from Maryam Saleh, Cameroon musicians Kareyce Fotso, and Véro La Reine. And there is music from Slovenia, Canada, Serbia, Finland and more.
