It’s been a busy week of client work, business admin and new opportunities. Here is a little round-up of some of the things I got up to 👆🏻

I didn’t even mention that I’ve stuck to my Stories challenge (11/14 days) 💛

Consistently showing up online is something I struggle with, both in terms of making the time to plan but also having the confidence to put my face and voice out there!

So, I've set myself a challenge: 14 days of posting on Stories, every single day (today is Day 2). I'll be sharing what I learn and the results once the challenge is complete.

If you fancy joining me in this challenge, send me a DM and we can cheer one another on 💛

Starting your own business is not for the faint-hearted. It involves taking risks, overcoming challenges and staying focused on your vision.

So to all my fellow self-employed/ business owner peeps on World Entrepreneurs Day, congratulations on being brave, thank you for inspiring and encouraging me and here's to making the dream come true 💫

Taking time to celebrate your impact is important for so many reasons; it boosts confidence & moral, provides an opportunity to celebrate teams & partnerships and provides insight into the work that you do.

Get in touch if you need support to plan celebration events, create social media campaigns or write compelling reports.

Another successful evaluation completed, this time for East Belfast Community Development Agency ⭐

I really enjoy completing this work as I get to write, analyse data and feedback, format/ design the report, and (the best part) chat to folk about the difference it has made to them!

Thank you to Marie-Anne for this feedback and congratulations to the team on all you achieved with this funding.

"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken" ~ Oscar Wilde

This is a reminder to anyone who at times, like me, experiences imposter syndrome or compares their achievements to others (I did this just last night): our uniqueness is our superpower, the people who choose you, choose you for a reason 💛

Here’s what I learned on our campervan trip to Stendhal Festival and the North Coast…

* Some things are out of your control: we didn’t have the best weather when we were away (the good weather only arrived when we came home). It was a little disappointing but we focussed on what we could control- enjoying the music, spending time with friends, being in nature and it helped that I had my robey with me 🤣

* Challenging situations are learning opportunities: we had this idea of what our first campervan trip would be like but it wasn’t as ‘luxurious’ an experience as we had imagined. We adapted, learned for the future and were still grateful not to have to pack up a tent at the end of the festival ⛺️

* Appreciate Silver Linings: we came home a little earlier than planned (the weather and campervan sleeping had taken its toll) but coming home early meant I got to spend lots of time watching my beloved Wimbledon 🎾

This morning I attended the Timely Careers Mid-Year Reflect and Reset event. It provided an opportunity to reflect on the past 6 months, plan for the next 6 and was a reminder that pause is productive.

My sister Elaine McElhill was one of three women invited to share their career stories and she absolutely smashed it. Her advice: take the support that is available from organisations like Timely Careers, be yourself and surround yourself with people who champion you💛

Thanks to Timely Careers for putting on events like this, and to Colette Leeson for facilitating and introducing me to the poetry of Donna Ashworth 👇

I’m still trying to process everything I heard yesterday at the Women in Business NI All-Island Female Entrepreneurs Conference.

👉🏻Two inspiring conversations with Alyson Hogg and Sara Davies who shared their real-life experiences (including really challenging ones) honestly, with warmth and humour. Absolute legends!

👉🏻Two panel discussions highlighting the importance of not trying to build on your own and sharing real experience of what they learned when things went pear-shaped for them.

👉🏻Two workshops with Beecome More on Selling with Confidence (remember that ‘sales’ is a transfer of service to HELP someone else) and Purple Dot Media on Video Marketing (importance of adding value and story-telling in videos)

👉🏻Two catch-ups with other fab solopreneurs, Leanne Mallinshaw and Caroline Smyth Photography & Ceremonies by Caroline.

Key takeaways:
-Define what YOUR own success looks like, don’t compare
-Failure is a stepping stone and a learning opportunity (falling forward)
-Ask for help & find a tribe (who understand)
-Imposter Syndrome doesn’t go away but turn it around- show people they made the right decision in choosing you
-Focus on your wins, what you did do (not what you didn’t)

Thank you to Women In Business for providing opportunities like this and for organising a brilliant event!
