DAY ONE - GROUND ZERO FESTIVAL

Headlining DAY ONE - of the festival are A.N.J.A. fronted by German born , Belfast-based artist Anja Romer and her 4-piece punk rock band.
With a hypnotic sound that blends retro punk, garage grit, metal, psych and stoner rock, they drag listeners into a dark, occultish dreamworld - fueled by fierce feminine energy and unapologetic confidence. Next to front woman and guitarist Anja Romer, the band consists of bassist Verity Clarke, lead guitarist Ben Jackman and drummer John McNulty.
Anja's scorching vocals , evil riffs, and swaggering stage presence call to mind icons like The Cramps, P J Harvey, L7, and QOTSA - while lyrically diving deep into transformation, horror, folklore, and the real-life dystopia of now.

Belfast legend Brian Young needs no introduction to the local music scene. As a member of Rudi he was at the heart of the punk movement in the late 70"s. Rudi were the premier pioneering punk pop band. The band released Good Vibrations first single "Big Time" and as they say, the rest is history. Today Brian fronts Belfast's own rockabilly greasers The Sabrejets who this year celebrated 30 years together. Brian will be celebrating his time with Rudi with a set full of Rudi classics from his new album which will be released on the night.

Crackhead Control fronted by Billy Riot are no strangers to the Sanctuary Theatre over the past year. "One of the bestest , newest punk bands around" so says Billy. They will launch their new EP on the night to an unsuspecting world.

Finally Goon Squad feature members of Stop Stop Start Again, Los Reyes and Thuh Hidebehinds. Their mix of raw garage punk blues will have you transfixed and will have you wanting more.

Lot of positive feedback re the live sessions on the podcasts. So we are going to every now and again put up a song from one of the sessions with the link to it. Hopefully gain some new fans for the band or artist and show once again what unlimited talent resides in this small place.
