Crossmaglen won 18 titles in 19 years between 1997 and 2015 which was the year when Stephen Morris and others from a minor-winning side including Oisin O’Neill and Caolan Dillon were called up to the senior panel.

Since then Cross have lost the iron grip they had on the Gerry Fegan Cup but they remain perennial contenders and Sunday against Killeavy will be Morris’s eighth county final, he’s won five so far and of course intends to make that six.

For Blaithín Mackin, the call of home was always going to be a strong one.

She grabbed the chance handed to her by Melbourne Demons with both hands, winning a Grand Final in her debut season and travelling back to Ireland in time for Armagh’s championship campaign.

However, that relentless schedule left time for little else and the strongest pull was the one closest to home.
