Where does my money go ?
With the donation boxes being out the wild now and doing incredible I’m sure there’s a few out there wondering what we do with the funds raised…
Currently we have teamed up with B Positive to add our journal notebooks in their cases that are given to every family when they arrive onto the ward.
We are also helping the ward by supplying them with some personal care essentials for the children and also some medical items that unfortunately they are unable to get. Both were used for Grace, so we understand the requirements and need for the other children on the ward.
Then as you all have seen recently we are doing a yearly birthday appeal for Grace, this is to gather gifts for the children on the ward…
* Lego - these sets are aged from 1-18yrs old and allows all the children/teenagers on the ward to pass the time in while also creating a good memory. Medically it also gives the staff and parents a marker on their child’s fine motor skills, concentration and ability to complete a task - this is something we didn’t know until one of the consultants had said to us while Grace built many Lego kits
* Jellycats - we all know of a child/teenager who has a jellycat or two, they are extremely popular for all ages and very cute. They are a very soft snuggly toy/teddy and perfect for those times on the ward when things become too much, to cuddle while they go under anaesthetic, get any sort of difficult interventions done such as bloods/dressing changes/line access etc or even just for those sleepless nights - Grace has a few, with a very special one that she cuddled in bed with every night.
We also have a few other ideas ongoing in the background, and there’s definitely going to be more to come 🌈
