Huge thanks to everyone that came to our first ‘Beyond Borders Book Club’ last night!

We had a great night talking through ‘Perfection’ by Vincenzo Latronico (translated by Sophie Hughes)… so many great conversations!! It was so good I forgot to take many photo’s - so sorry for those not featured on the couple I did take!!

Huge thanks to Lee at for hosting us - def the host with the most!! The perfect venue for a book club!!

Huge thanks to everyone who popped to see us today at … and thanks to the lovely folks at Bouquet for having us (& looking after me with lovely coffee)!! We’ll be back for sure - watch this space for more info!!!

Don’t forget we’re at Belper Book Fair tomorrow (11-4pm) on the Marketplace with a selection of our own books and a bunch of top notch used books direct from my own bookshelves (no duffers here!!). I’m also doing a little talk at 11am in about publishing as well if that’s yer thing!!

Sat 9th Aug: pop-up bookshop from 9am-1pm. Come and grab you a decent coffee, a pastry, a bottle of something nice for Saturday night… and a book!!

Sun 10th Aug: we’ll be at Belper Book Fair organised by on the marketplace at the top of King Street from 11-4pm. We’ll be showcasing a good selection of books including our own publications, some new titles and some 2nd hand gems from my own collection!! Bargains to be had!! I’ll also be doing a bit of a talk on publishing at 11am and how to find the right publisher for you!

Tues 19th Aug: we’ll be launching our new ‘Beyond Borders Bookclub’ at the brilliant in Derby. Kicking off at 7pm, we’ll be discussing ‘Perfection’ by Vincenzo Latronico (trans. Sophie Hughes). Fancy it? Drop me a DM to let me know!

🚨 BEYOND BORDERS BOOK CLUB 🚨

We asked recently if anyone might fancy a book club that focuses on books from around the globe… and the feedback was a unanimous ‘YES!’ - so here it is!

We’ll be rocking up at the brilliant on Friar Gate in Derbados on Tuesday 19th August, aiming to meet around 7pm ish. The initial book choice is one that has really gained some rave reviews this year - ‘Perfection’ by Vincenzo Latronico (translated by Sophie Hughes), published by the mighty 🔥

If you need a copy, drop me a DM and I’ll get it sorted and to you in good time - it’s a pretty short read (120 pages), so if you let me know if you need a copy by the end of the week I’ll order them and get them out asap.

Similarly- if you fancy coming along… drop me a DM so I can give the good folks at Suds an idea on numbers!!

🚨THIS SATURDAY’S POP-UP IS CANCELLED🚨

It’s with a heavy heart I’ve made the call this morning to cancel our pop-up this coming Saturday at due to illness; I feel absolutely dreadful. 🤒

I’m really gutted about this - I was so looking forward to doing some bookselling in this beautiful space and having some great bookish conversations with you lovely people.☹️

I’ll be rescheduling soon… my sincerest apologies if you were planning on popping in. Sorry. 😔

Ok, so our good friends at are launching a new book club, called Bookuet (clever!)… and I’m super proud that Bearded Badger have been invited to be a part of it!

If you’ve been to Bouquet you’ll know it’s the ABSOLUTE perfect place to host a book club - lots of comfy and cosy seating, and of course… wine!! Really good wine!!

We’re kicking off on Wednesday 30th July from 6:30pm with ‘All The Colours Of The Dark’ by Chris Whitaker - and the best bit, it’s only £12.50 for a copy of the book and a glass of wine!! We’re gonna use this first event to meet, hand out the book… and have a good ol’ natter over a glass (or two!) of something nice!

Books, wine, a great setting & lovely people (that’s you lot btw!). Sounds perfect right?

This weeks ‘Bearded Badger recommends…’ is a recent title from the brilliant - ‘Spit’ by David Brennan.

You can never go far wrong with any of Epoque’s titles, and this doesn’t feel like bucking that trend anytime soon. It sounds like everything I’d want a book to be and early reviews suggest it’s written with hauntingly lyrical prose and beauty.

I’m getting a copy and look forward to getting stuck in - perhaps it sounds like something you’d go for too?

As ever use your local indie bookshop, buy direct from Epoque… or if you’re local to Derby, we’ll def have copies on the sales tables at our pop-ups. 🔥 📚

This is what I’m currently reading… and I’m loving it! As with everything publish, it’s high quality writing and let’s be brutally honest here - these guys are the GOOD guys!

If you don’t know much about Cipher Press they are HUGE champions of LGBTQIA+ writers and writing - with a focus on publishing writers from marginalised backgrounds.

We love them here at Badger HQ… and I reckon you might too! Look out for their books at our pop ups, you’ll def find a few!

Wow! What a day!

We’ve had a lovely day at today, what a great place to sell books! Thanks to everyone who popped in to see us, it was lovely to meet faces new and old… and huge thanks to everyone who bought a book, I hope you enjoy them!

Quick decompress and beer at the insanely vibrant n the way home and got asked by the lovely Holly if I could do pop-up there - brilliant!! A super end to a super Saturday!! 🍺
