Like his compatriot - MLB hall of famer Miguel Cabrera – Juan is a man who covers many bases (oh dear - Ed).

Another one who’s currently sunning himself in Turkey (is there any FT deejay that didn’t make it over to Europe this year …erm… sorry Phil), Juan dropped this set off on his way to the airport. And yet again he’s served up a fine selection of cuts spanning genres, eras and continents, all wedded together with an attitude that screams HOUSE. The very ethos of this Famz Tree thing of ours.

And while (at last) old London town isn’t quite touching Mediterranean temperatures anymore, this will still sound wonderful booming on your box as you enjoy a b**r or two in the cool summer evening, relaxing on the parched, cigarette butt encrusted dust covering your local park.

Still recovering from world cup fatigue? Well, you'll be fighting like a losing Argentinian to get to the front of the queue for Matt D***s' latest show for Family Tree. Matt himself has jetted off with fellow FTRS DJ Luke Crowley to one place on the planet they don't mention the world cup. Yep, Italy and Matt's show is the perfect listening choice whilst chilling on the shores of the Ligurian Sea with an ice cold Moretti. Close your eyes and you can imagine being with the speedo clad DJ duo, and good luck shifting that image. Anyway, let's chill to the sounds of some King Tubby dub or the Balearic lushness of the Doobie Brothers (which Matt and Luke are also known as), and into the soul of New Birth and so much more. Its a very warm welcome back for FT OG Makersmark this week. Not sure where he's been, but the beard, tie-dye pants and dreadlocks suggest he's been finding himself somewhere exotic. Well that or he's had a weekend in Bristol.

Either way, it seems our Mark has risen high above the boiling cauldron of World Cup mayhem, beak and lager-fueled Lido brawls and atomic public transport commutes that the rest of us London dwellers are suffering through.

He's only gone and served up a supremely chilled (checks notes) "sonic journey drifting through dubby, ambient techno and laid back, sun-kissed grooves" to help us keep our chakras in order as we melt into our bus seats. Its all "meditation" this, "Lotus" that and, erm, "Shove Piggy Shove" innit. It all makes sense when you listen to it. I for one am so chilled now that I've not thought of Erling Haaland once this morning.

Yeah yeah its hot. We know. Are we still going to mention it? Er... yes.

After a slight scheduling mix up resulting in there being no show ready for today we elected to dig out a late night HOT mix Luke did not so long ago to stick out.

This was never intended for public consumption as it was really just a recording of him at 3am having fun and playing some favourite house tunes while messing about on the old effect box. So that means there's no programming, no planning, no playlist or over dubs. Just pure house music. It also meant he was a little intoxicated at the time and maybe the mixing isn't all spot on!

If you want to know what a tune is message Luke via the comments below and he will come back to you although chances are he wont remember either!

Dunno about you but this World Cup feels like pish already right? Racist immigration nause. VAR raising its irritating head in the opening bloody game. Infantino. Trump. Annoying kick off times. And the stupid new enlarged format which clogs up the tournament with pointless minnows like Curacao, Cape Verde and Scotland.

Tony Regan will no doubt be going full on Tartan Army this year, given that his traditional antipathy towards the Scottish FA may have waned a wee bit following their conspiracy to deny Hearts the SPL title (FACT).

As the late Sonny Rollins (RIP) once said "music represents nature". And as sure as London becomes a raging furnace hell hole (aka sees a bit of sun), our Phil comes along with a trailer load of selections that provide the perfect sounds.

After the developments over the last week with certain people getting their house in order and suggestions of a popular Mancunian coming back into the frame, it would appear there is an on going power struggle and an inevitable challenge to the leadership coming. Some think the current leadership is losing popularity and to save it things must change now.
But thats enough about the internal wranglings of the Family Tree Executive Board of which I'm sure you have no interest so long as we just keep on getting the job done properly!

And on that note we are doing exactly that by bringing you another blistering show from our very own Danny 'The Captain' O'Connor. Back by dope demand rapped a certain King Bee 36 years ago and today it is equally apt as Steve Tee returns to the FT wheels of steel.

So Family Tree enters a new era. A first reset in 8 years - Keir Starmer take note.

While we're not throwing anyone under a bus or changing our leader (just yet), the new fortnightly Friday format should help bring about the change this country needs. Who knows if this will help us reach those hard to reach listeners in coastal towns and the former red wall. But the music will be better than an Angela Rayner deejay set, that's for sure.

Launching this new era, we see the return of the prodigal son and people's favourite from Manchester - yep, Ben Arnold. Everything from Alice Coltrane to the Thompson Twins - think that's what they call triangulation in politics.
