As an extra special treat for all the good FT boys and girls Father Xmas dropped off a very special guest show at the office from our very own bad Santa Max Wright.

Its only taken us a year of hounding Max into recording another show but it is the epitome of delayed gratification and we're not talking about Sting's s*xual practises (get your minds out of the gutter).

Max descends the chimney with his bulging sack and there's not a stocking filler in sight. Its the musical equivalent of getting a vintage Meccano set or the last Tamagochi in the shop in 1997 and well worth waking mum and dad up at 6am to unwrap. Big ups to Mr Max!

We're going to take a couple of weeks out for Xmas (will post some vintage shows in the meantime) and we will be back in the new year with some FT news for everyone.

In the meantime have yourselves the merriest of Xmas' and catch up with everyone on the other side.

We come to you today straight off the back of another Sunday Afternoon at Dingwalls outing and via the house of pain where I am currently renting a small box room for the day. It was yet another excellent session where we celebrated r kid Phil's big birthday in a sea of jazz, samba and noodles of both varieties.

So what do we all need as a tonic to get us through the rest of the week? Yes that's right, a soothing 2 hour mix from none other than big Tony Reegz Regan, sans dulcet tones (straight mix, no yakking) but guaranteed quality music to mend everyone's battered frontal lobe.

So make yourself another Berocca, pull down the blinds and let this warm your soul.

It's only six sleeps until Another Sunday Afternoon @ Dingwalls All-Dayer (Note: Sadly not at Dingwalls anymore), the legendary jazz dance session with Gilles Peterson and Patrick Forge. The vibe at this club, still going since the late 80's was a major influence on the We Out Here festival, where Peterson now runs a "DIngwalls" session on the third day of the event. The Family Tree crew will be well represented this weekend as usual and to get us in the mood Phil D***s brings a jazz tinged opening salvo to his show. However, like the aforementioned festival and Family Tree Radio in general, Phil switches through genres as we go. As a famous jazz dance classic track once said; "Dance Ya Ass Off".

It's (nearly) Christmas Time
And there's no need to be afraid
Danny O'Connor is here, with his festive show
But he won't play Slade

Just back from standing in for the chaplain at this year's carol concert at Guildford Cathedral, Danny O'Connor whips off his cassock to bring you his favourite Christmas Songs from past, present and future (Ed: I think that's ghosts innit?). Tis the season to be jolly indeed, unless you're a Spurs fan (Ed: Grrrrrrrrr).

For this month’s Family Tree Radio Show, Mark has put together something a little special and written his own words.

"Between 1999 and 2001, Juan Solo and I ran a club night called Plan B at The Clinic on Gerrard Street in Chinatown, London. Hard to believe it’s been 25 years and yet when I’m mixing at home, I still sometimes picture myself back in that top room behind the decks! Ridiculous really but I can’t underestimate just how important this period of time was for me. We’ve dined out on these memories quite literally for a quarter of a century!

I approached this mix exactly how I would’ve played back then. Aside from the first couple of tracks, nothing was pre-planned. I picked a stack of tunes and let the flow guide through some different styles. There are a few real Plan B staples in here (Grand Theft Audio, Didier Sinclair, The Plastic Avengers, Pascal F.E.O.S., Tim Trace), but the selection spans over three decades. The idea wasn’t to recreate the night track-for-track, but to capture the energy and freedom of a typical Plan B night - first Saturday of the month baby.

The mix was recorded straight; no edits, no tricks, no loops… as the kids say, I raw-dogged it! You can definitely hear it at certain points! Mostly but not exclusively vinyl with 2 x 1210s, 2 x CDJs and my MasterSounds Radius 4-channel rotary mixer.
Above all, this one’s a celebration of HOUSE music in all it’s forms - dedicated to Juan Solo, Luke Crowley, Duber & Girl, the wider Plan B crew (you know who you are), Family Tree residents, guests & regular listeners and anyone else who loves this music as much as I do. Also, a special mention to my biggest fan, Natasha x
No talk. No filler. Just house music all night long…"

After another weekend of dancefloor shenanigans including cat and mouse games with security, close up hand magic David Blaine would have been proud of, nearly getting thrown out by the same guy twice and sweet talking ourselves out of said situation (twice), Gee narrowly avoiding a lunchtime family do by the skin of his teeth and the afters finishing at midday suffice to say its been an entertaining weekend!!

But we are back with our nose to the grindstone, ready to fulfil our musical commitment this Monday with a kicking show from our friend oop North Ben Arnold. Filled with rugged rhythms, delinquent disco, and bad basslines these two hours should assist in the dampening of any hangovers still being felt.
Hold tight!

There were a few current news topics we thought we could touch on in this weeks blurb; s*x pests Westwood and that Andrew bloke, the continued assassination of the BBC, Philippine typhoon Fung Wong (don't you dare make a 2 wongs joke - Ed) but instead we thought we would touch on some positive club news and upset this weeks DJ Matt in the process.

Family Tree had a little outing to London's latest nightlife addition OM on Saturday. Brought to you by the same gang behind Giant Steps this place has been touted as the closest thing to Plastic People the city has seen in many years and it did not disappoint. A perfect size room with an incredible sound system (7 stacks and 2 incredible horn arrays above the booth), DJ Nature on duty and boy did he bring the heat! If you can go check this place out and support these small independent venues you really must.

Matt couldn't make it unfortunately and so we promised not to bang on about it er but it had to be said. Long live OM!

Luke returns this week after his excursion to an anti-Catholic terrorist demonstration over the weekend involving gun powder and explosives. Yes, he went to the Blackheath firework display to drink mead and denounce the reformation of the protestant church (bit late for all that now? - Ed).

Not satisfied with hollowing out pumpkins and lighting sparklers all weekend, our very own Guido has recorded 2 hours of disco bangers and house fire crackers with a view to bringing down the monarchy through the medium of dance.

And remember remember, once you set this show off, make sure the lid is firmly on and do not return for 2 hours. This show is dynamite!

Fresh off the back of his slamming set for the big lad Irish Si's 50th bday party comes our Tony Regan.

Well we all know how good Tony's show's are so we would have been prepared to wait another 72 hours to hear it but we don't have to and you dear listener can get stuck in straight away. It'll wash away those wet Monday blues fo sho!

Today has been a difficult day to put together a load of words that had a point and made any sense so we thought instead lets do it with numbers and highlight that today is our 379th official show (not including specials, mixes and tributes).

That equates to approximately 758 hours or 45,480 minutes or an entire month (31+ days) of non stop quality music output with some waffle sprinkled on top by our group of very talented selectors. These numbers have generated yet more numbers including 4,285,351 of minutes listened, 61,847 plays and 5226 favourites. Now that is a whole heap o' numbers!

But the only number you really need to know is that your (and our) No. 1 DJ, Phil D***s is back on the decks with another 121 minutes of straight up quality jams! Now that's numberwang!

"Monday, Monday" as the Mamas and Papas once sang in 1966, and it's your weekly dose of Family Tree Radio. But wait! The Boomtown Rats sang (Ed: Sang!? Have you heard Bob Geldof?) "I Don't Like Mondays" in 1979 and it certainly appears that this week's DJ Matt Hanlon was having a "Manic Monday" (Bangles 1985), or a least a "Blue Monday" (New Order 1983), as he dropped off his show at FT Towers yesterday, 1 minute before midnight! Sadly the editorial team had already had their cocoa and were "Dreaming of Monday" (The Jam, 1980) and so to avoid any "Tuesday Heartbreak" (Stevie Wonder 1972) here is Matt's show. C U Next Tuesday............no, Monday!
