We’ve just added something rather brilliant to the Beverley Review Activity Finder.

Heritage Open Days are coming to East Yorkshire from 11–20 September, opening the doors to some extraordinary buildings, gardens, historic sites and places you might normally walk straight past.

There are dozens of free events across Beverley and the East Riding, from Beverley Minster’s hidden gardens and bell towers to historic houses, old pubs, churches, wartime sites, guided walks and buildings rarely open to the public.

We’ve added them to our Activity Finder, with a new Heritage Open Days filter so you can see them all in one place. You can also narrow them down by Beverley, Cottingham, Bridlington and the wider East Riding.

What is happening inside our local Liberal Democrats?

Only days after Angus Young revealed that bullying complaints against East Riding Lib Dem leader Denis Healy had been upheld by an internal party panel, another extraordinary story has emerged from across the boundary in Hull. Denis Healy strongly disputes those findings and is appealing.

Hull’s Lord Mayor Cllr Maria Coward has now resigned from the Liberal Democrats, claiming she no longer felt safe within the council group and alleging that complaints about the behaviour of colleagues were not properly dealt with. The Hull Lib Dem group says it was surprised and saddened by her decision and had met with her to understand her concerns.

These are separate cases involving different councils and different allegations. But coming within days of each other, they raise obvious questions about relationships and culture within local Liberal Democrat politics across Hull and the East Riding.
