Before I go, I always always like to make a big exit and pick a huge song to finish the show, so I'll sign-off in the usual way with '𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗘𝗻𝗱': This week, we take you back exactly 15 years with a massive song from band where one half of the band turns 40 today. We're talking about Skyler Austen Gordy, better-know as Sky Blu from LMFAO!

OK then, time for two different versions of the same song on Beverley FM in '𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲'.

The first version of today's song was recorded by American soul duo William Bell and Judy Clay in 1968. While it wasn't a huge hit in their native country, it climbed to number eight in the UK charts

Fast-forward 31 years and British boy band 911 re-recorded and re-released the song as their 12th and penultimate single in May of 1999. It managed to get five places higher in the charts, peaking at number three.

OK then, time for two different versions of the same song on Beverley FM in '𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲'.

ToBeverley FMwas originally written and recorded in 1970 by British singer-songwriter Yusuf / Cat Stevens, and although it was a huge hit in the USA and Canada, it was never released as a single in the UK. Jamaican musician James Ezekiel Chambers, better-known to you and I as Jimmy Cliff, recorded his own version of the song just a few months after the original, and this was released in the UK, peaking at number eight in the Summer of the same year.

Fast-forward 18 years and Lindon-born Max Alfed Elliott, better-known to you and I as Maxi Priest, recorded his own reggae version of the song, releasing it as his third and ultimately highest-charting single, reaching number five in the charts in the Summer of 1988.
