This week I gave talks to three WI groups in South Devon so it was a wonderful excuse for mini holiday with my parents. We stayed near Kingsbridge and a highlight was a ferry ride down to Salcombe. Thanks to HayTor WI, Kingsbridge WI and Primley WI for inviting me to talk about the importance of preserving life-stories. Hope you had fun reminiscing.

I'm currently working on a biography for a farming family and I love the story about an ancestor who was a soldier during World War One. He was serving on the front line in France when some hay arrived for the horses. Imagine his surprise when he realised the label said it had come from his home farm in Oxfordshire. He said it was the best hay ever! Below shows a war-time Christmas card sent to the family.

It has been an exciting start to 2024 for Our Family Memories. I have given talks to two welcoming WI groups in Devon, one in the village of Coldridge and one in Sidmouth. Hopefully I've inspired some people to start writing their life stories. And I've also just embarked on two new biography projects - with one client based in Canada!

This week I was thrilled to address more than 100 WI members at the Devon Federation's Speakers Day near Exeter. They were intrigued to find out why I'd brought along a banana and a tin of tomato soup! If you'd like to find out why, I could come along and chat to your community group and hopefully inspire you to write your life story.
