2017 Land Rover Discovery visited us this week due to MOT failure, Engine Management Light on.
We found faults stored for no flow through the low pressure EGR cooler.
This system takes exhaust gases from after the diesel particulate filter and recirculates them to further reduce emissions.
With the filter removed from the cooler you can see heavy carbon deposits have completely blocked it. But why?
An expensive answer, unfortunately the DPF is leaking particles and thus making its way back into the EGR system. This means its the DPF has an internal crack. There is no clean or cheap fix here. Unfortunately a new DPF and filter was required along with a thorough clean of the EGR system.
With all issues repaired we carried out a full MOT test and issued the customer with a repaired vehicle and a test certificate.
Having troubles with DPF, EGR, Adblue etc then give us a call and get booked it.
