Walking the streets of San Francisco at 2 o’clock in the morning can be quite an experience, Alistair tells me as I finally catch up with him. And few places hold more stories than the Tenderloin where the nights are long, the lights are low, and every corner has something to say.

Alistair remembers those hours vividly wandering the neighbourhood, hanging out with a band that had travelled all the way from Memphis, and finding himself welcomed by a local street crew who took him in. He laughs as he recalls how much difference one simple thing made: he happened to be wearing a Public Enemy t-shirt that night, and that alone earned him respect and acceptance. “I was so lucky,” he says. “If I’d been wearing something else, who knows how it would have gone.”

At the heart of the band is Alistair C Jones: songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer whose musical path has been decades in the making. Originally starting out as a drummer, a pivotal trip to San Francisco in 2005 changed everything sitting in the city’s vibrant cafes, notebook in hand, he began writing the songs that would form the foundation of his artistic voice.

Alistair writes all the band’s music crafting melodies, performing guitars, handling recording and production, and building the sonic world each track inhabits. His songs draw from deeply personal experiences from the streets of San Francisco to the quiet English countryside blending thoughtful lyrics with memorable, melodic music. Yet he is quick to share the spotlight: “The music comes alive through every member. Each adds their own voice to the vision.”
