So much for Security Sector Reform!

The Barrow Government is abusing the rights of those who created it .

It is legal to protest peacefully on public land in The Gambia.

The Public Order Act only makes a protest illegal if it significantly disrupts the peace; endangers the public; obstructs the public; or causes a public nuisance by way of noise, odour, or other; not for just turning up on public land and making your feelings known, individually or in a group. Let’s not abuse the laws!

The protesters who went out today were peaceful and didn’t disrupt public activities at all, and therefore, MUST all be released to go home immediately.

Once again, we have been reminded that tribal politics exists in Gambia, regrettably.

Sycophants with no substance to share with the public, recall tribal sentiments to seek affirmation from their bases. How is listing top government positions awarded to a particular tribe, an achievement? How does it improve the socioeconomic status of any individual or advance the development of a nation?

Saihou Mballow portrayed two dangerous trends in Barrow government. According to him:

1. Appointments to most senior government positions were secured by Fulas (Fulani people)

2. By pointing out Number 1, he sought to paint Barrow and his government as patrons of the Fula community, and for that, the Fulas must reciprocate the favour by supporting the Barrow government. The appointments he listed may not have been favours, for the candidates may have been the best ones at the job but he has placed question marks next to their titles now.

I have no problem at all with Number 1, because if it was by reason that Fulas were the outstanding candidates in job applications and interviews, and were offered the jobs, then so be it.

What I find difficult is the fact that he seemed to insinuate that Barrow government is doing a favour to Fula appointees in high positions. He demeaned the qualities of those appointed to top jobs whilst simultaneously depicting an image of favouritism in Barrow government. Whether the appointments were by design or a coincidence, we may never know. If we are inclined to believe in his bile, the appointments were made for tribal reasons in order to garner support from Fula communities. The latter is the dangerous element for me. Very unsavoury!

What we do know, is that Barrow is incompetent and so are many of his executive/MD/GM appointees. The government is failing in many sectors and appointees to top positions may have something to do with the conspicuous failures of H.E Adama Barrow’s administration.

We should focus on selecting the best candidates for the job. Our dead hospitals and failing schools do not care about our tribal backgrounds. They kill us all and they fail us all, in equal measure.

The rising crime rates have no tribal allegiances. We all suffer in equal measure.

The rising prices of commodities do not care which communities you hail from . We face the dear market prices the same way.

The failing infrastructure bothers us all.

How do we combat these challenges? That’s what we care about, but unfortunately, the intellectually backward Mballow and his ilk will have no suggestions to make on that front. We continue to fail as nation because of Mballow and others, and his rallying call for Fulas to return Barrow a favour, will fail too. Guaranteed❗️

Fulas, Jolas, Mandinkas, Serere, etc, are all suffering in Gambia and we demand change, in government, or in the performance of the existing government, immediately.

Well done Gambia Police Force, for tackling dangerous driving on Gambian roads. About time! You deserve all commendation for making the public safe from reckless driving

Why are you then detaining the other 8; 4 at Fajara Barracks and 4 at Yundum Barracks for stopping the oil/fuel smugglers?

You sacked the people you named in this post for illegality but the others who stopped illegality are still being detained for over 2 months .

So, in GAF, it is damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Where do we stand?

Is this the face of Security Sector Reform? Lord save us all!

Please free the soldiers who correctly stopped oil smugglers.

Ask Fara Jobe and Baboucarr Ndow, both of GAF Navy. They’ll know something about those currently in detention for no good reason, just because they stopped suspected criminals.

Free the gallant soldiers.

PRESS RELEASE:

GAMBIA ARMED FORCES DISMISS SEVEN PERSONNEL FOR CONDUCT PREJUDICIAL TO GOOD ORDER AND DISCIPLINE

Banjul, Wednesday 19 August 2025: The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) wishes to inform the general public that seven of its personnel have been officially dismissed with immediate effect for acts constituting Conduct Prejudicial to Good Order and Discipline, contrary to Section 78 (1) of the Gambia Armed Forces Act (GAFA) 1985, Cap 19:01 Vol IV Revised Laws of The Gambia. Their dismissal was premised upon the conclusion of an internal investigation into serious breaches of operational conduct and military discipline.

This action follows the arrest of two privately owned speed boats and a yacht on 14 May, 5 and 12 June 2025, linked to activities that compromised national security and the integrity of our naval operations.

Investigations led by military intelligence, in collaboration with relevant security agencies, uncovered compelling evidence of deliberate and coordinated misconduct. Among the findings were:

a. The unauthorized preparation and launching of two privately owned speed boats.

b. Cell site analysis and communications data revealing direct involvement of the dismissed personnel.

c. Corroborated statements and observation of coordinated movement among the individuals involved.

d. Receipt of monetary rewards and other material benefits, including Tobaski rams.

e. Compromised Operational Integrity and betrayal of assigned duties.

Notably, the individuals were found to have aided a clandestine network operating under the guise of ALTIMA SEA SPORT LIMITED, which is currently under scrutiny for activities inconsistent with its declared purpose.

As a result, the following personnel have been dismissed from the GAF with immediate effect:

a. Lieutenant (N)Abba Nyassi
b. Fleet Chief Petty Officer (FCPO) Musa Dampha
c. Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Ismaila Jobe
d. Chief Petty Officer (CPO) Musa Jammeh
e. Chief Petty Officer (CPO) Alagie Secka
f. Chief Petty Officer (CPO) Ebou Marong
g. Leading Seaman (LS) Lamin DK Sanneh

The dismissed personnel, acted in direct violation of military ethics, oath of service, and national trust. Their continued presence in the Armed Forces particularly within the Navy would pose a clear and unacceptable risk to operational security and mission integrity.

The Gambia Armed Forces upholds a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of collusion, corruption, or compromise of our core values. The actions of these individuals were not isolated lapses in judgment but organized and premeditated acts that undermined public trust and the integrity of the service.

This decisive action underscores the GAF’s unwavering commitment to upholding discipline, maintaining professional standards, and safeguarding the integrity of the institution. The Armed Forces leadership wishes to reassure the public that indiscipline or misconduct of any kind will not be tolerated, and appropriate measures will always be taken to protect the image, values, and operational effectiveness of the Gambia Armed Forces.

The Gambia Armed Forces remains resolute in its duty to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of The Gambia, while upholding the highest standards of military discipline and public trust.

Detaining someone for 72 hrs without charge, is illegal. Abdoulie Sanyang should be released if he’s not charged. Let’s also remember soldiers in detention at Fajara Barracks for over 2 months

What was supposed to be a meeting between Donald J. Trump and Zelensky only, has now turned into a crowd.

The Europeans have talked their way into peace talks they were excluded from. If Trump is not careful, Europeans will scupper the permanent peace deal's progress as warned by Putin. They are likely to tell Trump that "Peace is dangerous", and convince him to change his mind.

The unelected President of the European Commission is heading to Washington DC, and so are Merz, the German Chancellor, and Keir Starmer, the UK PM. Why are they so desperate, and why are they gatecrashing? Damn!

Please stay strong 💪🏾 Trump and don't allow them to derail the path to peace

Abdoulie Sanyang, a former Gambia National Army officer, opens up and reveals secrets most of us already know but it will be good for the public to know, and for international media and organisations such as ECOWAS Parliament African Union, European Commission to know.

Sanyang said in a public radio interview, West Coast Radio, that some National Intelligence Agency (NIA) agents, during President Jammeh’s tenure, were on his payroll, meaning they pay security officers to get what they (the opposition) want. I suppose when they got what they wanted, they went ahead and blamed Jammeh for the acts, after their paid mission ?

I’m happy these ignorant folks are talking like parrots.

Who is to say that they didn’t pay other security personnel to commit crimes and pin them on Jammeh, knowing fully well that Jammeh wasn’t involved?

Madness!
