✨ THE BEAUTIFUL QUALITIES AND ATTRIBUTES OF SHAYKH ABD’ AL-QADIR AL-JILANI قَدَّسَ اللّٰهُ سِرَّهُ

Shaykh Abd’ al-Qadir al-Jilani ‎ قَدَّسَ اللّٰهُ سِرَّهُ ٱللَّٰهُ was the authority, the imam, in religious matters, theology and law, and the leader of the Shafi’i and Hanbali branches of Islam. He was a man of great wisdom and knowledge. All men profited from him. His prayers were immediately accepted, both when he prayed for good and when he prayed for punishment. He performed many miracles. He was a perfect man, of continuous consciousness and remembrance of Allah, meditating, thinking, taking and giving lessons.

He had a soft heart, a gentle nature and a smiling face. He was sensitive and possessed the best of manners. He was aristocratic in character, generous and giving both of material things and of advice and knowledge. He loved people, but especially those who were believers and who served and worshipped the One in Whom they believed.

He was handsome and well-dressed. He did not speak excessively, but when he did speak, though he spoke fast, every single word and syllable was clear. He spoke beautifully and he spoke the truth. He spoke the truth without fear, for he did not care whether he was praised or criticised and condemned.

In his teaching and his service to mankind he applied qualities which he inherited from the highest. He said, "A spiritual teacher is not a true teacher unless he possesses twelve qualities. Two of these qualities are from the attri­butes of Allah Most High. They are to hide the faults of man and the rest of creation, not only from others, but even from themselves and to have compassion and forgiveness for even the worst of sins. Two qualities are inherited from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ — love and gentleness. From Hadrat Abu Bakr, the first of the four Caliphs, a true teacher inherits truthfulness, honesty and sincerity, as well as devo­tion and generosity. From Hadrat ‘Umar, justice, and imposing the right and preventing the wrong. From Hadrat Uthman, humility, and staying awake and praying while the rest of mankind are asleep. From Hadrat ‘Ali, know­ledge and courage."

He was as devoted as a father to all his tens of thousands of followers. He knew them by name, and cared for their worldly affairs as well as their spiritual state. He helped them and saved them from disasters, even if they were at the other end of the world. He was a child with the children, and treated them with the utmost tenderness and compassion. With those much older than he, he became as if older than they, and treated them with respect.

He kept the company of the poor and the weak; he did not seek the company of the famous and powerful. With such people he behaved as if he were the king’s own King.

May Allah shower His mercy upon Shaykh Abd' al-Qadir al-Jilani قَدَّسَ اللّٰهُ سِرَّهُ and allow us to benefit from his beautiful prophetic examples and his light that still shines so piercingly bright around the world today.

✨ THE DOOR OF RESPONSE IS OPENED ✨

On Friday 11th June 1993 CE/21st Dhu al-Hajja 1413 AH, Habib came down for the Jumu’ah Prayer. After we had all greeted him, he remained silent for a short while and then said, 'When the Call is given for the Prayer on Friday,’ after the Call, the Door of Response is opened; after the Call the Door of Response is opened! He was subsequently to say that the time when the Muslims are leaving their houses to go to the mosque for the Prayer, and the hearts of the community are turning towards God, is the time when the doors of heaven are opened to receive and respond to their supplications.

✨ THE BIRTH OF THE BEST OF CREATION ﷺ ✨(Part 1)

As we approach the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal, we rejoice in sharing beautiful lines of poetry that depict the most auspicious of occasion when the best of creation ‎ﷺ entered and illuminated the entire world 💚:

“His face shining like the sun. A clear moonlit night unveiled him; a night of a birth that, along with its day, was a joy and a blossoming for religion.
A birth that brought grief and a plague to the disbelief that was rising.
A day that the daughter of Wahb (Amina) became a proud mother, the like of which no woman had ever attained.
She brought forth to her people he who was more excellent than the one carried by the Virgin Mary in a previous era.
Exclamations of the joyous news came in quick succession. ‘The chosen one has indeed been born and happiness has established itself.’”

“Al-Rabi’ literally means springtime: it causes happiness in the hearts and rain makes trees and plants that were barren during the winter turn green and flower. Rabi’ is also the month when we rejoice and celebrate the birth of the Prophet ﷺ and receive the spiritual rains of lights and mercy that come down on such occasions from the higher worlds into people's hearts, causing them to flower with faith, certainty, and love for God and His Prophet ﷺ.”

As an ummah we rejoice in welcoming in this blessed month of Rabi' al-Awwal; the month in which the Best of Creation, Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, the Spring of our hearts and the Light of our lives ﷺ entered and graced this earth as he filled it with his beauty, light, nobility, peace and mercy ﷺ. for all the whole world to be immersed in. ✨ THE TRANQUIL SOUL ✨

“When God says O tranquil soul, return to your Lord, well pleased and well pleasing; and then join My servants and enter My Garden! This is an address from God, Exalted is He, to the Tranquil Soul.

What then is the Tranquil Soul? It is that which has found its tranquillity in good works, in Tawhid, in remembrance: Those who believe and whose hearts are tranquil in the remembrance of God, for indeed it is in the remembrance of God that hearts become tranquil?’

The Tranquil Soul is one that is tranquil in good works, so that these become dear to it; it is satisfied and contented with them. This is why He says, Transcendent and Exalted is He, ‘O tranquil soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and well-pleasing,’ for here it is tranquil due to its good works, not its frivolity; tranquil in its Lord, its deeds, its prayers, and everything that draws it nearer to Him, purified and disciplined. When it turns away from this world, God, Transcendent and Exalted is He, addresses it, saying, O tranquil soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and well-pleasing! which means to return, pleased with the state you are in, satisfied with the recompense you see, your nearness to God, the lights before you, and accepted by God, Transcendent and Exalted is He.

What is its recompense? And then join My servants. Those I show mercy to, who have been true servants of Mine; real servants of God, not servants of the devils or of their egos, but true servants of God - a great honour when this servitude finds acceptance. Join My servants with whom I am well pleased, My servants who are saints, My servants who have been granted to succeed. Join My servants and enter My Garden, the Garden that is as wide as the heavens and the earth put together. This is the Tranquil Soul that we often hear about.”
