It is one of the most comforting truths of Zen philosophy: no matter how profound your spiritual awakening, the dryer still needs emptying. As the famous proverb goes:

"Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water".

Spiritual realization doesn't excuse you from the mundane realities of human existence. The dishes still get dirty, and the clothes still pile up.🧽🫧🪣🧺🪠🧹
