Testing out Duo 9 (Cosmic Veil & Starling) from the Cult Beauty x Danessa Myricks Beauty Box!

Even though this box was supposed to feature Duo 10, getting my hands on these stunning multi-use pigment sticks is a happy accident I can work with!

Watch closely for that glide on application, the immediate cooling sensation 🧊- that is actually chemistry at work: the formula uses volatile silicones that evaporate rapidly as they hit your skin, instantly drawing heat away for a unique, cooling application.

Once that flash cools down, it sets into a completely water-resistant, smudge-proof finish that will not budge or crease all day. This product is so pigmented so it means you only need the tiniest amount!

The way these metallic and foil finishes catch the light. They blend so easily with a brush or your fingers too. Snapped together, making them travel friendly and you can mix and match with other duos too!

A tips and tricks for those hot days where you’re wearing make up all day! 🥵

Let me start by saying that I wore this makeup as a bridesmaid in 35+ degree Celsius heat for over 10 hours. I knew I’d be running around and so I needed this makeup to LAST with the least amount of touch ups required.

I’m also someone who NATURALLY has an elevated body temperature and I SWEAT a lot from my head/on my forehead. With the help of several trusty fans, it lasted from morning until night. A few points for you below. Feel free to sound off in the comments too if you have any other questions!

1. Will you need a bit of time to do this?
Yes. You cannot rush makeup for an event like this AND rushing makes you hot. This took me about 45 mins, fan breaks included.

2. I have dry skin but like a matte finish, what can I do to help mine last in the heat?
Use hydrating setting sprays in between instead. You still need a SETTING powder as you need to set your face, but use less of it. I’d still recommend the final spray steps for a more matte finish.

3. Do I still need to moisturise before?
Absolutely! My skin was hydrated before I applied the primers. No moisturiser and your skin will produce oil and then you’re in trouble!

4. I have dry skin and don’t like a matte finish, how can I keep my makeup on a heatwave day?
The key is hydration in between and less powder. The NARS pressed powder used in this look is great for setting more dry skin as it is also light reflecting. Use a brush rather than a powder puff to set your face. It needs to be set even with a light layer of powder.
