Welcome to Lette's Chat ~ Real talk with Real People.
Hi, my name is Carlette. I am a Sociologist and PhD Mentor. I'm from Washington, D.C. but currently live in the West Midlands of England.
I moved to the UK in 2017 to write my doctoral thesis; a comparative study of the similarities and differences in which Black American women and Black British women experience racism. I have wanted to launch a podcast for a long time, and now the time is right. Targeting an audience of Black women, we will discuss the issues that affect us the most; mentality, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
My earliest memory of a racist experience occurred when I was 6 years old. I still remember it and the devastating effects it had on me even to this day. When I was older, I decided to dedicate my life to supporting, uplifting, inspiring, motivating, and empowering Black women. Whether it means telling my own stories or listening to the stories of other Black women, I want our experiences and how we cope or overcome them to help make a difference in someone's life.
