Yamination Studios is an animation company specialising in stop motion animation in the heart of Birmingham. Taking its name from yam yam, a term referring to Black Country folk and their crazily cryptic vernacular, the studios are the embodiment of founder Drew Roper. A multi-award winning stop motion director, producer, and animator, he’s behind (almost) everything that goes out of their swingin

g doors. The studio covers all aspects of production within its walls, thriving on creativity and innovation. Since its creation in 2009, Yamination has been up to its ears in developing shorts, pilots, TV commercials and promos for clients including Coca-Cola, Cravendale and Sky Arts. In fact, when it comes to bringing little things to life, this place does it with buckets of passion, character and – most of the time – plasticine.

The wonderful director brought us a challenge (as always) and as we love to tinker with our 3D printers this was one we gladly accepted.

A massive shoutout to our talented crew of painters/sculptors/printers/packers/set builders/set dressers for this epic job and an equal shoutout to the team who delivered us the files ready to slice and support all those beautiful behinds of Dak Shepherd and his team mates as well as the team that shot and animated this very cool commercial Go team go 🏈💪!

Hundreds of miniature American football players models and a couple of big sets for () big idea to bring message of taking a closer look to life!

Baylor Scott & White teamed up with Dak Prescott to challenge us to take a closer look. For this year’s My Cause My Cleats, when most players planned to go big, Dak’s gameday shoes went small. Really small. This was their way to encourage fans to take a closer look and take charge of their health with early screenings.

Those marketing gurus always like to bring us a challenge and for the Diet Coke x Tom Daley ‘This is my Taste’ campaign we were tasked with designing bespoke Crochet Hooks.

An array of fabulous things have been designed and printed on our printers, albeit we are not usually hook suppliers & with these items needing to be used for a purpose and being put to work with crocheters hands…it was a rather fun yet challenging one :) Good news for us is our art department are all avid crocheters✨ Score!
So many of our talented yamfam supplied their crocheting 🧶 intellect when it came to designing and making the perfect hook.

We digitally sculpted a design that would showcase the logo perfectly to sit nicely in the hand sizing it accordingly to Tom’s specifics to make his bag. Then tested out multiple different types of resin and printing techniques making sure the hook would bend enough without breaking. Tried out different painting finishes to give it that nice aluminium can shine & voila the was born 👏

As it’s just been chocolate week, and we devour more Cadburys cause we like to rep(eat) local ~ we’re looking back at that time we nearly hired a crew of 8yr old kids. After enticing our usual crew with bundles of Cadbury’s they managed to channel their inner child selves and build an epic moving mechanical model of .

A few weeks worth of all our ’s recycling, plenty of Cadburys wrappers and some nifty mechanics and ta-da 8yr old Eva’s model for her show and tell was complete.

Was a delicious joy making this for Cadburys World!
