Itโ€™s beneficial to have your c-section scar assessed for many reasons including;
to help the healing of the scar and to help the movement through your abdominal muscles
and to rehabilitate your abdominal muscles well ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™Œ.

Here is a lovely review from a recent client whoโ€™s C-section scar I assessed. I then provided massage & mobilisation to the scar and abdominal wall and then provided some appropriate exercises to help the tone and tension through the abdominal wall ๐Ÿ˜Š.

The Mummy MOT is a thorough Postnatal assessment of your abdominal muscles, pelvic floor muscles, posture and breathing.

๐ŸŒŸMy hamstring injury rehab! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ™Œ๐ŸŒŸ

In July I was out for a morning run and I tripped over a tree root ๐ŸŒณon the canal ๐Ÿ˜–ouch!!
I made sure I didnโ€™t fall onto my hands (to protect them ๐Ÿ˜Š) and used my glutes and hamstring to pull me back up to stand.
Due to the intense sudden power and force needed to do this ๐Ÿ’ฅ I strained the proximal aspect of my hamstring (in the glute region).

โžก๏ธSince then Iโ€™ve been on my own rehab journey back to running ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ.

Iโ€™ve had to gain the mobility, strength and power back in my hamstring whilst maintaining good pelvic strength and control ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™Œ.

This has been a very paced process and has had to work with allowing the structures to heal ๐Ÿฆต.

โžก๏ธ Iโ€™ve had to focus on ways of exercising that I can do as running has always been my go to ๐Ÿ˜ƒ. So I could strength train, bike, cross train etc. ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿšฒ

All while I pace back to running whilst rehabbing my hamstring.

โžก๏ธ Please note that these exercises are all examples and Iโ€™m not showing them at certain stages of my rehab and I havenโ€™t included all of the exercises that Iโ€™ve done to increase the mobility and strength in the hamstring in the early stages.
โžก๏ธItโ€™s also very important to know that all rehabilitation is very individualised and is not prescriptive.
โžก๏ธRehabilitation is based on the site and the extent of the injury and your personalised goals and needs ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ.

A great day with some amazing friends and Pelvic Health Physios going through the latest research and practice for management and treatment of scars ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™Œ.

Some fabulous talks including;
-Scarring and the Pelvic Floor by
- Surgical techniques for c-sections and how that impacts healing by Dr Magdalena Fiolna
-The Psychological Impact of Scarring by Dr Pippa Tollow

Also a fabulous talk on scar assessment and an update on Hannahโ€™s research on scar management and rehabilitation ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ™Œ.

Helping to continue best practice for the management of C-section scars, perineal scars and orthopaedic scars ๐Ÿ˜Š.

Michelle and I really enjoyed it and itโ€™s been great to push our fitness levels and train together again ๐Ÿ˜ƒ.

The 8th September is World Physiotherapy Day ๐Ÿ˜ƒ.
The theme this year focuses on the role of Physiotherapy and physical activity in healthy ageing, with an emphasis on preventing frailty and falls through safe, personalised exercise programmes ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™Œ.

I started my day with some Orthopaedic Physiotherapy and some total knee replacement rehab ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿฆต.
