HEAVY DOWNPOUR IN MBALA DISTRICT YESTERDAY.
Sadly my brothers 2,500 bags of maize were affected by the downpour.
This also affected some maize stocks within and around FRA depots.
This is an emergency that requires immediate Government intervention and evaluation through FRA depots by prioritising wet maize and provide mechanical dryers for the affected stock.
I was deeply hurt yesterday when I received the news from my brother,he sounded so brokenhearted and this completely shattered me.
My brother is a very hard working Farmer,he has been for so many years,those of you that know my brother Martin would agree with me.
This is so demoralising especially for people who might want to take up Farming as a business,because this loss is way too much.
I hope and pray that the Government comes in to help handle this unfortunate situation.
From his explanation you will understand that his maize had been covered by a tent all this while,not until Saturday when the FRA people told him to remove the tent and clean the maize in readiness to be properly parked in the FRA bags,those bags were not given to him,he patiently waited for days not until the heavy downpour yesterday came and affected his stock.
This isn’t fair at all.
