Surah Al-Qiyamah (The Resurrection), a striking surah that confronts the human soul with the reality of the Day of Judgement. Opening with two powerful oaths "by the Day of Resurrection itself and by the self-accusing soul".

Allah affirms that resurrection is an absolute certainty, dismissing any doubt humans may have about it. The surah also describes the terror of that Day: when eyesight is dazzled, the moon darkens, and the sun and moon are joined together — there will be no escape. It reminds us that every deed is recorded and that humans will be a witness against themselves, despite any excuses they may offer.

The surah then shifts to the moment of death, describing how the soul is taken while those around watch helplessly, before closing with a profound reflection on how Allah, who created us from nothing, is surely capable of bringing us back to life.
