Soundgarden have announced their fifth live performance since the death of Chris Cornell in 2017.

Guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Ben Shepherd, and drummer Matt Cameron will take to the stage at their hometown team the Seattle Seahawks' NFL season home opener against New England Patriots on Wednesday 9th September.

Soundgarden will be joined by The Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen and Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready for the halftime performance at Lumen Field stadium.

A keen Soundgarden aficionado, Taylor Momsen has performed with the band three times in the past seven years, including their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction last November.

Mike McCready also played on ‘Rusty Cage’ at the Rock Hall with Soundgarden and Momsen.

Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford has paid poignant tribute to Dolly Parton following her death from cancer aged 80.

The Metal God shared a photo of himself duetting with Dolly Parton on 'Jolene' at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in November 2022, when Dolly and Judas Priest were both inducted into the Cleveland institution.

He simply wrote: "She won’t want no cryin'. I love you Dolly."

A few months after the Rock Hall ceremony, Rob Halford duetted with Dolly on the track 'Bygones' from her star-studded rock album, 'Rockstar'.

Speaking to Metal Hammer about the build-up to the Rock Hall duet, Rob said: "Somehow, instinctively, I knew we were going to meet.

"I always tell the story of my mother's grandmother, who was a clairvoyant, and I still think I’ve got a little of that in me, because something went, ‘You’re going to meet Dolly Parton.’

"Two or three days later, these emails come into the office, and Dolly’s reached out, asking, ‘Would you sing some lines on Jolene?’ You sit at home and go, ‘Oh my god, this is truly going to happen!’ Being a gay guy, ‘I’ve got nothing to wear!’ I know that she likes to sparkle and I like to sparkle, so what I wore on that night was apropos."

Reflecting on the moment they met backstage, Rob added: "She goes, ‘I love your beard!’, and she starts to clean my beard! It was so surreal!

"I’m meeting this living legend and she’s tickling my beard and going, ‘So you’re going to sing some Jolene with me?’ I was just floating."

Former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora has paid tribute to his friend Dolly Parton following the country legend's death aged 80.

Richie Sambora shared the stage with Dolly Parton at London’s The O2 in June 2014, and, two days later, he played 'Lay Your Hands on Me' with Dolly during her triumphant Sunday evening 'legends' set on The Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.

In 2023, he hit the studio with Dolly to play guitar on the title track to her rock album, 'Rockstar'.

Sharing footage of the Glastonbury performance on social media, Richie said: "Dolly, The Undisputed Queen of country music. My Shero! I am very proud to call her, my friend and musical partner. She will live on in our hearts forever. All my love… Richie."

Hours after the news of Dolly’s death was shared by her nephew Bryan Seaver on Tuesday, her publicist Marcel Pariseau confirmed she died of cancer.

"After bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Centre surrounded by loved ones,” Pariseau said.

Country legend Dolly Parton, who branched into rock music in 2023 with the star-studded album 'Rockstar', has sadly died aged 80.

Dolly's nephew Bryan Seaver made the announcement on behalf of the Parton family in an Instagram video today.

Her family said: "A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family.

"Dolly Parton’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience. With a seven-decade career, she inspired multiple generations of artists and fans with her music and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place.

"Her songs will continue to resonate with people of all ages, and her philanthropic work will have a lasting impact."

RIP to the great Dolly Parton.

Megadeth leader Dave Mustaine has revealed that Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson gave him vital support and 'hope' during his cancer battle.

Dave Mustaine announced he was battling throat cancer in June 2019, and he was given the all-clear in 2020. Bruce Dickinson, of course, beat throat cancer a few years earlier in 2015.

In a new interview with Metal Hammer, Dave said Bruce reached out to him following his diagnosis and gave him some much-needed support.

"Bruce had some fantastic stuff to say as a cancer survivor," Dave said. "There's a big difference between someone saying, 'You're in my thoughts and prayers', versus somebody who goes into detail about his treatment and tells you about the outcome. I needed hope, and he gave me it."

He went to explain that Bruce also advised him to "surround yourself with good people...make sure you're spending time with people who are upbeat and positive."
