Made By Brum Rewriting the story of Birmingham and West Midlands

30/03/2026

Walsall's a bit arty, didn't you know?

World class art and culture in our back garden. Who needs to go Tate Modern, eh? And at a time it cuts to art, it's a hub that we need to support.

We won!

Feeling very chuffed that my social enterprise, MADEBYBRUM, was chosen as 'Creative Production of the Year' at the brilliant Lord Mayor Of Birmingham Charity Awards last Friday.

I came back to Brum, and set up the organisation, because of a passionate belief that we have the culture, people, and business - we just need to shout about it.

And my goal, is that by doing so - in a way that's authentic, locally driven, and representative of our rich culture and heritage - we can reframe the narrative about our home, challenge negative perceptions, and drive business and cultural growth.

A big thanks must also go to all of our lovely local crew who've supported our projects, and of course our local heroes who've shared their stories with us.

From Handsworth to Kings Heath, Dale End to Chelmsley Wood, this has been a proper regional effort. And one that I'm immensely proud of.

Big up Brum and WM.

Join us on Thursday at The Jointworks in the JQ, for our first MADEBYBRUM exhibition.

It's only 4 days away and we are getting very excited to share with you the stories of local people and places, that we've been making over the past 16 months.

Across 3 rooms, we've got such a great list of stories to showcase. From our award winning shorts, 'A Dumpling Story' and 'JERKMAN', to our cinematic pieces in our 'The City Speaks' series.. PLUS, new photography to kickstart our step into photo journalism, and a couple of interactive pieces to get you thinking about the identity of our city.

We exploring stories from all over the region, from Kings Heath to Handsworth, and Chelmsley Wood to The Rag Market. Bigging up local voices to create confidence and pride in who we are, as a way to create the change that we deserve.

So come on down to the JQ, and be surprised, excited, and entertained.

This is your city.

And more!

It's clear in the film how important community is to Adrian, and his team is just that: his community. So we couldn't just celebrate one person, and got to share the love with the team.

They help Adrian make his dream come true, and bring what he learnt in Handsworth to audiences across the country.

If you haven't already, check out our short film 'JERKMAN' on our IG and YouTube profiles.

Adrian and the team at are at until at least June 2025. So get down there and try some jerk πŸ˜‹πŸ‡―πŸ‡²

We've had such a great reception to 'A Dumpling Story' with screenings across the UK and now we will be showing at the BAFTA-qualifying 'Flatpack' this May at the incredible in Digbeth!

And... we've also been selected to screen at on 3rd May.

One of the big aims of is to showcase local stories across the nation, to challenge negative perceptions and to rewrite the narrative of the West Midlands. So to have our first film have this much success is incredible and a real measure of the talent and stories we have in our home region.

Big thanks to the entire team who worked with us on this film. We can't wait to see you all at Flatpack and Wolves in May.
