A series of one-day strikes started on 6 January 2025 leading to piles of rubbish in the streets.

Unite said there would be no end to the strikes until there was a fair deal for Birmingham's bin workers.

"For the last 20 years, every time we've had a downpour, I think my house is wrecked."

Barry Froggatt has seen his home flood five times since he moved into it 25 years ago, due to what officials say is poor drainage linked to his garden.

In the latest event, the 55-year-old has been unable to return to his house since November after heavy rain from Storm Claudia.

A family-run garage has said it is devastated after thieves smashed their way into the showroom and stole motorbikes used in a Grinch-themed Christmas window display.

MG Accident Repair Centre near Wolverhampton, which has put on large festive displays for six years, says it is now unsure about continuing with the tradition.

Thieves drove up to the showroom in Four Ashes on Saturday evening, broke the window and made off with two red Honda scrambler bikes and a child's Mini Moto bike, owner Grace Hughes said.
