One Aim has been in operation for over a decade, but was formalised and registered in December 2003. We are governed by a Management Committee and have a core of around 20 volunteers who provide time and expertise. We aim to provide support to socially disadvantaged young people. We currently work with young people through the mediums of digital media production and sport, in an attempt to unlock
their potential and develop their skills in a way that will promote creativity, encourage self-expression, and build self-confidence. Projects
The Family Learning Curve is specifically tailored to teaching family members together on a project, but also providing families a lot of support with a whole range of issues, including help with social situations, family finances and benefits and national curriculum education. The Employment Learning Curve focuses on those who are unemployed or have recently found themselves in such a situation. OneAim hopes to help these people by teaching them media skills and techniques, as well as developing CVs and references for future employment. A former project is known as N.E.E.T which stands for Not in Employment Education or Training, and is aimed at those who find themselves in that situation. We helped develop people's key skills, creativity and determination to succeed which is subsequently coupled with the ability to gain nationally recognised certificates at the end of the course.
