What Is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune condition in which skin cells multiply too fast, leading to dry, red, scaly patches that can be itchy or sore.

🔍 Fast Facts:

▪ Affects 2 - 3% of people in the UK

▪ Not contagious

▪ Typically peaks in the late teens to early 30s and between the ages of 50 and 60

▪ Comes in flare-ups and remissions

🧠 Causes & Triggers:
Caused by an overactive immune system. Triggers include stress, cold and dry weather, infections, skin injury, some medications, and alcohol.

🧴 Types Include:
Plaque, guttate, inverse, pustular, and erythrodermic (rare) psoriasis.

💡 Can It Be Cured?
No cure, but symptoms can be managed with:
