🚨 Nana Frimpong Ziega has slammed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority in Parliament for holding a press conference on the controversial LGBT Bill, describing it as unnecessary and untimely.

In a strongly worded statement, Ziega said:
“The NPP Minority press conference was not necessary. It is needless at this moment, especially when the harm has already been done. I think Nana Addo himself, the former Majority leadership, and the NPP Communications team must all come out and apologise to party supporters who have suffered as a result of the defeat in the last election.”

He argued that the handling of the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill significantly contributed to the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.
“All the reports show that LGBTQ issues played a role in the NPP’s defeat. The NPP Majority at the time saw all the dangerous clauses in the bill but failed to educate Ghanaians and shape public understanding of why Nana Addo was unwilling to sign it. Instead, they sat aloof while it was used against them.”

Ziega urged the party to accept responsibility rather than attempt to explain their position after the damage has been done.
“It has contributed to your defeat, and now you want to explain what, when the harm has already been done? They better keep quiet and apologise to their supporters for letting them down,” he added.

🚨 Veteran journalist and Editor-in-Chief of Insight Newspaper, Kwasi Pratt Jnr, has expressed surprise at what he sees as inconsistency by the Minority in Parliament regarding a controversial bill.

Commenting on the proceedings, Pratt said:
“A minority MP, at the conclusion of the debate before its passage, said something I consider both interesting and surprising. He argued that certain provisions had been removed at the committee level, and that when they were in power as the majority then, they insisted and fought for those same provisions to be removed.
However, this current majority, which was then in the minority, insisted that those provisions must be included. So why are they removing them now? In principle, the minority appears to agree with the provisions that have been removed or amended. So why the noise?”
