If traditional economics were right, and humans were perfectly rational…we wouldn’t need 15 flavours of toothpaste, 10 cereal brands, or dozens of shoes. Everyone would just pick the objectively “best” option, and one choice would fit all.
But that’s not what happens. Why? Because humans didn’t evolve to make perfect decisions.
Our brains evolved to survive, not calculate. We notice shiny, new, familiar, comforting, or emotionally rewarding things. We follow instincts, habits, and social cues — not spreadsheets.
සාම්ප්රදායික ආර්ථික විද්යාව හරි නම්, මිනිසුන් පරිපූර්ණ ලෙසටම තාර්කික නම්...අපිට toothpaste රස 15ක්, cereal වර්ග 10ක් හෝ සපත්තු දුසිම් ගණනක් අවශ්ය වෙන්නේ නැහැ. හැම කෙනෙකුම objectively "හොඳම" විකල්පය තෝර ගන්නවා. ඒ විදිහට ගත්තොත් හැමෝටම එකම තේරීමක් fit වෙන්න ඕනේ.
නමුත් එහෙම වෙන්නේ නෑ. මොකද මිනිස් මොළය perfect decisions ගන්න evolve වෙලා නැහැ.
අපේ මොළය හැදිල තියෙන්නේ survival mode එහෙක ඉන්න මිසක් හරියටම calculate කරලා decisions ගන්න නෙවෙයි. අපේ focus එක යන්නෙම familiar, comforting, හෝ emotionally rewarding දේවල් වලට. අපි ගොඩක් වෙලාවට decisions ගන්නේ අපේ සහජ බුද්ධිය, පුරුදු සහ සමාජ ඉඟි අනුගමනය කරලා.
