🏰 Hertford Heritage Day
📅 Sunday, 12 noon–4pm
📍 Hertford Castle
🎟️ Free entry

The Castle lawn will be transformed into a medieval settlement with interactive encampments, storytelling, archery demonstrations and Viking battle re-enactments. Hertford Castle will also be open to explore. Hertford Castle

🔔 St Michael’s Bell Tower
📅 Sunday, 1pm–3pm
📍 St Michael’s Church, Windhill, Bishop’s Stortford
🎟️ Adults £5; children free

Explore the ringing chamber, discover the history of the church bells, see the workings of the 200-year-old clock and climb the tower for views across the town. The upper levels are open to adults and children aged over seven.

🚶 Hertford Heritage Walks
📅 Sunday at 11am and 2pm

Discover Hertford’s varied architectural history on two free guided “Buildings of Delight” walks. Places must be booked in advance through Hertford Town and Tourist Information Centre. Hertford Town Council

🏰 Place House Hall Tudor Open Day
Saturday, 11am–3pm
Visit Ware’s Grade I-listed medieval hall for free Tudor-themed activities, dressing up, historical displays, refreshments and homemade cake. No advance booking required.

🌿 All Saints’ Environment Day
Saturday, 10am–4pm
All Saints Church, Hertford
A day exploring local environmental issues, with stalls, information, light lunches and screenings of Six Inches of Soil and Wilding.

🎪 Ware Police Community Fun Day

A free family day featuring activities, community stalls, emergency-service vehicles and more.

🎶 Uncle Funk’s Decades of Dance
Saturday evening at Ware Drill Hall
Dance through the decades with a nine-piece live band while supporting SERV Blood Bikers and other local charities. Check availability before travelling.

The Gardens are open on Thursdays into the autumn, from 11.00am to 3.00pm, last entry 2.00pm. At 7.00pm on Friday 4th September there is a Bat Walk at the Gardens. And our Apples and Bees Day on Sunday 20th September is from 11.00am to 5.00pm.

Early on Saturday 29 August 2026, we became aware of works taking place on the land off Sheering Mill Lane, Sawbridgeworth, following reports from local residents. Heavy vehicles and construction equipment had entered the site. The land does not have planning permission for development.
