Message from Masjid-e-Raza, Balaclava Street, Blackburn:

This individual has stolen our Lillah donation safe from the Masjid. He pushed it down the stairs and used a wheelie bin to transport it out of the building.

If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact the police on 01254 51212.

Last night in Gaza, a mother stayed awake while her children slept.

Not because they were safe but because she was watching the water. She could see it creeping across the tent floor. Cold rain leaking through tiny holes.

Mud pushing under the thin mat where her youngest was lying. She pulled one blanket over three children. The fabric was already damp.

Their breaths were shaky from the cold and the coughs that never go away. Outside, other families moved their tents a few steps higher.

Bare feet in freezing mud. Plastic sheets flapping in the wind. No coats. No proper shoes. No heater to switch on. In winter here, we worry about the fuel bill.

In Gaza, they worry if a child will wake up burning with fever or not wake up at all.

One young man described their old shelter in the rain as “drowning whenever it rained until we received a tent.”

Even now, many still do not have that tent.

So as the nights get colder for us with hot drinks, warm socks and soft duvets.

Who will stand between a child in Gaza and the freezing cold at night?
