This year has been the year that all of my roles have evolved.

CEO.
Boss.
Fiancé.
Mum.
Friend.
Daughter.
Woman.

Some of those titles are new. Some I’ve carried for years but the woman standing inside them has evolved beyond recognition.

Whilst in Marrakech, my intention has been to embody the woman that I am. Not some future, more successful, more healed, more accomplished version of me.

The woman I am right fu***ng now.

To sit in gratitude for her.
To understand the magnitude of her.
To stop moving the goalposts for long enough to actually fu***ng meet her.

Because when you’re ambitious, it’s so easy to achieve something you once dreamed about and immediately ask, what’s next?

Another goal. Another level. Another number. Another version of yourself to chase.

But I don’t want to keep chasing her. I want to be her. And here, away from everything, I’ve had the space to strip all of those roles back.

To just be Alice.

And f**k, I’ve been her here. Full-hearted. My inner child absolutely pouring out of me. Laughing until my stomach hurts. Diving into swimming pools pretending I’m a fu***ng mermaid whilst convincing everyone else to join me. Dancing. Crying. Playing. Feeling.

Holding other women whilst they unravel things they’ve carried for years.

Watching women see themselves differently and feeling pride practically bursting out of my chest.

Being soft without feeling weak.
Being powerful without needing to prove it.
Being looked after whilst still holding others.
Letting myself receive.
Letting myself take up space.
Letting myself experience the life I’ve worked so fu***ng hard to create.

My business has grown.
My responsibilities have grown.
My relationships have evolved.
My standards have changed.
My life looks different.

And I am different.

So I’m coming home changed because Marrakech gave me the space to fully meet the version that was already here. I’m coming home embodying the level I’ve already been sitting at.

Making decisions from her.
Leading from her.
Loving from her.
Creating from her.
Living as her.

Knowing wholeheartedly there’s so much of me to love unconditionally.

Just Alice🩷

I’ve spent the entire week telling everyone they’re mermaids🧜‍♀️

It started as a joke.

I was getting everyone to dive bomb into the pool. We were laughing until our stomachs hurt, being ridiculous, playing and somewhere amongst it all, everyone’s inner child came out.

And I think that’s when I realised… THIS is retreating.

It’s having time away from everything you are responsible for.

Every role you play.
Every person who needs something from you.
Every decision that needs making.
Every expectation.
Every version of you that you have to be in your everyday life.

And having the space to ask… Who the f**k am I underneath all of that?

I’ve never experienced anything quite like this week. This time away has helped me come back to myself in a way I didn’t even realise I needed.

And I know I’m not coming home the same woman who arrived here.

Yesterday, I delivered our coaching and content filming sessions with the incredible women here and the feedback afterwards was immense.

And in my session we brought it all back to the bloody mermaids! Because we’re constantly told that there are plenty more fish in the sea.

But I don’t want to be a fish. I don’t want to blend into a sea of people doing the same thing. I don’t want to be predictable. I don’t want everybody to understand me.

I want to be the magical fu***ng creature that makes people stop and look. The one some people don’t understand. The one some people aren’t even sure could possibly exist. The one that makes other people think “Wait. If she gets to exist like THAT… maybe I do too.”

We are not fu***ng fish. WE’RE MERMAIDS🧜‍♀️

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully explain what it means to have this story picked up by The Gazette. Not just because they’ve shared my business, Social Media School or what I’ve built over the last three years.

But because they chose to tell the story of why it all means so much to me.

In 2020, my life looked completely different. I was 25, on Universal Credit, raising my little girl and experiencing PTSD, depression and daily panic attacks.

Counselling in the Community supported me during one of the darkest periods of my life. Six years later, I stood in front of 100+ people at an event I had created and together, that room raised £1,300 for the charity that helped me when I needed it most.

That’s the story I wanted people to know.

I’m so incredibly grateful to The Gazette for recognising that this was bigger than a business story. For giving space to the mental health conversation, for sharing the reality behind the confident woman people see today and for shining a light on the incredible work Counselling in the Community does in Blackpool.

Because sometimes you see the woman on the stage.
The business owner.
The awards.
The events.
The confidence.

But you don’t see the 25-year-old woman who came before her, experiencing PTSD-inflicted panic attacks on her kitchen floor and wondering what her future was going to look like.

Both of those women are me.

And I’ll never be ashamed to talk about that chapter of my life if sharing it means somebody currently living through their own darkest chapter can see that where they are right now doesn’t have to be where their story ends.

So thank you, The Gazette, for picking up my story and treating the mental health aspect of it with the importance it deserves.

And thank you to every single person who donated, bought a raffle ticket, donated a prize or helped us make Social Media School happen.

To see this story in my hometown newspaper, six years later, really does feel like the definition of full bloody circle!

I just hope someone who needs it reads this and thinks maybe my story isn’t finished yet either 🩷

Hitting 100K in revenue, having an interview for a press feature in absolute paradise in Marrakesh and I get to play mermaids in the pool. It gets to be like this🧜🏻‍♀️

I’ve spent the afternoon narrowing down HUNDREDS of photos from Social Media School and choosing what to cull has been almost impossible because of just how much JOY there is in every single shot🥹

Gillian Walsh Brand Photography Specialist you captured it PERFECTLY! Looking through them has made the magnitude of Wednesday hit me all over again. We actually bloody did it.

100+ people. The first ever Social Media School. £1,300 raised for Counselling In The Community and a day I’ll never, ever forget.

My name might have been on the event but there is NO FU***NG WAY I did this alone. So to the village who made this slightly bonkers idea happen…
