Aggressive begging is becoming a real concern for business owners and residents in and across the town.
The issue isn't against the homeless or the poor, but rather that gangs are taking advantage of the vulnerable.
Usually, working in shifts across the town, with training and "security" people are being brought into town and housed in poor conditions and sometimes paid with drugs.
The police are working on the situation, however, some important things;
- If you see a homeless person, offer food and drinks instead.
- Contact the council or another charity.
- If you are threatened or concerned dial 999.
Together, we can get vulnerable people help and stop the flow of cash to criminal gangs, whilst protecting our highstreet.
