My Christmas break actually started a couple of weeks ago as I've been home in N.I looking after family.

I just want to say a massive THANKYOU to everyone who has supported me and my business this year. Its not been an easy one, but it has definitely not been pants!

Thankyou for investing in me and my work and to all my friends and family who have helped at shows, in the workshop or looked after Albert & Myrtle while I've been away, I couldn't do it without you 🥰

I have been to Ulster Ceramics and stocked up on materials so I'm excited to get back to the workshop and continue my experiments next year!

Until then, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year.

Jud

Good morning!

I thought you might like to see how I made my Christmas decorations this year.

Today I will show you how I made my Crackers.

These were relativley easy to make but very very fiddly to throw. With 100g ball of clay I threw a narrow cylinder. The trickiest part was achieving the cone shape at each end of the cracker because the middle was so narrow!

Once they were leather hard, I cut into the ends to create a fancy edge, fettled them and added a small hole in the middle.

They were left to dry and then bisque fired, glazed and finally gold dots were painted on and they went back into the kiln for a lustre firing.

I then added some gold ribbon, tied in bows and strung them up with twine.

Christmas Dinner is not complete without pulling a cracker getting a disappointing toy and hearing a terrible joke!

My crackers are available in either Grey or White. If you would like to add another one of my limited edition Christmas Decorations to your collection, you can find them at -

Greetings!

I thought you might like to see how I made my Christmas decorations this year.

Last Christmas I loved how my bow and present decorations complemented each other and I wanted to create something similar this year. I came up with the idea of Crackers and Crowns in January and I've been so excited to make them ever since!

Today I will tell you about the paper Crowns.

I started off with 50g ball of clay and threw a small cylinder. When removing each one from the potters wheel I purposefully distorted them, because they are never perfectly round.

Once they were leather hard, I altered the top with a hole cutting tool, exactly the same way I cut my Picot edge. I then added some texture to the pieces, to capture the creases and crinkles that naturally occurs in the paper.

Some of my crowns got extra embellishments. These were little blobs of clay, squeezed out with a slip trailer.

Hooks were added before the clay dried out and then followed the the usual process of bisque, glaze and lustre firing.

Christmas Dinner is not complete without pulling a cracker and wearing a paper hat that doesn't stay on your head properly 😆

Thats my online shop closed for 2025!

Thankyou so much to every single person who placed an order. Apart from a few local collections and one last drop off at the Post Office tomorrow, they are all on their way to you.

You really have kept me very busy this past week or so, and I am very grateful.

Feet up in front of the fire now with the fluffy helpers, Albert and Myrtle, and a well earned hot chocolate!

It has come to the time of year where i'm sure the post office staff dread the sight of me! I just wanted to say thanks very much for your orders so far. I have been busy wrapping them since Saturday.

Did you know if you live locally to me, you can collect your orders from my workshop? I will also be in Randalstown this December so I can bring any orders home to N.Ireland too.

All you have to do is select 'local pick up' at the end of the check out, and I will e.mail you to arrange collection.

Thanks so much!

Its time to unveil my Christmas decorations for 2025!

Inspired by festive traditions at the dinner table, I made some hand thrown Crackers and Crowns this year.

On a bright, crisp day a few weeks ago I went down to Sholach Christmas Tree Farm to take some photos.

Like every other year, these are limited edition and only available at in Blairgowrie. Pop into the shop on the High Street or if you don't live locally but would like to purchase one, please contact Sarah.

Cake break?

Yes please!

It's all go over here! I've been busy in the workshop making orders, stock for my online shop update, which will be happening shortly... (don't forget to sign up to Tea with Jud if you need to!) I've also been getting in the festive spirit with my special Christmas decorations for again.

They have already been delivered to Sarah and will be revealed very soon!

It was my turn to bake for Knitty Gritty (my knitting group) last night. It's not often there are leftovers, but I'm always glad when there are! I took a break this afternoon from glazing and had a well earned slice of coffee cake.

Even though this is a really busy time of year and sometimes it can feel neverending, its the small things that get me through my days. Today I am thankful for snow and cake.

Even though the weather is quite mild at the moment, it has been lovely and cosy going to work this autumn.

The sunsets recently and surrounding nature are a constant source of calm and inspiration.

I still feel so lucky to have a warm workshop after so many years of being cold! I love it here.

The workshop is filling up and I'm on my last few days of throwing for my shop update, so hopefully there won't be too many more late nights in there!

I've made some Picot plates and bowls so fingers crossed everything goes to plan and they will be ready in time.
