Tea with Jud Tea with Jud is a small business run by Jud Pollock. Jud is from Northern Ireland and lives in Blairgowrie.

Even though the weather is quite mild at the moment, it has been lovely and cosy going to work this autumn.

The sunsets recently and surrounding nature are a constant source of calm and inspiration.

I still feel so lucky to have a warm workshop after so many years of being cold! I love it here.

I aways find it hard to get workshop motivated after a big event. Last week after unloading and unpacking I didn't have a choice but to get straight into making again. On my to do list was customer orders and Christmas decorations for shop.

They are all made and drying (very excited about my decorations this year!) so I took some time off on Saturday and went for a lovely hike in the hills.

I'm back in workshop mode again and planning my next online shop update for Christmas. It will be earlier than normal this year, so if you don't want to miss out, make sure you subscribe to Tea with Jud. Just head to the website, the link is in my bio.

Potfest in the Pens 2025

The transformation from cattle pens to major ceramics event is always pretty impressive.

This year I decided to try out a different lay out with my disaplay and I really loved how the colour ranges flowed along together.

As always, everything went really smoothly, thanks to the .co.uk team and all their hard work!

It didn't feel quite as busy as previous years, but was equally as exhausting and I am so grateful for every single purchase, compliment, loaf of veda, hug, coffee etc...

Thankyou so much to all the visitors and customers who came and were so enthusiastic about our pottery, displays and even my knickers 😉. It is so great that you come back year after year and support us.

I'm home safe, everything is unpacked and my diary is planned until the end of the year. Thankfully its not looking as hectic as I thought it would!

My preparations for Potfest have been the most topsy turvy they've ever been. I have never felt more disorganised, but I finished setting up about 10.30pm last night, I think I was the last person to leave the auction mart!

Even if it is a slightly tired and deflated hooray...I'm glad I made it, and I'm ready to go!

Exhibiting along with 119 other wonderfully creative potters, Potfest in the Pens is open today until Sunday.

10am - 4.30pm daily.

Potfest in the Pens (Penrith) is 1 week today!

It was my friends birthday and she wanted a blue soap dish, so thats what she got! It turned out so beautiful I couldn't resist making some more. If they all survive their firings, I will bring some with me to Potfest!

Grey & Gold Salt Pigs will be added to the line up this winter. That gold dot it everything!!!! Each pot comes with an (optional) acacia wooden spoon.

I was washing my dishes the other day, and when I stacked them on the draining board I remembered how great these 3 colour ranges work together!

I have started glazing for Potfest in the Pens now. Having prepared for shows time and time again on very tight schedules, I can tell you for a fact that no matter how much you plan, there is always an unexpected drama.

This time it's glaze. I dont have enough of it and my supplier is having issues with it. Great!

All I can do in the meantime is sand the bisqueware and glaze them partially on the outside while I wait for a delivery to mix up some more.

In case you aren't already aware, running a ceramics business is actually quite stressful! It's a constant waiting game, waiting for things to dry, cool, reach temperature, waiting to have money to be able to order the materials you need and then find out they aren't available etc... a lot of waiting, followed by a lot of improvising!

"My new go to"...

A few of my customers have been telling me this is their new favourite shape to drink from, and I have to agree!

I've been flat out making for .co.uk in the Pens, 17th - 19th October.

Life is extremely busy at the minute so I am very behind schedule! I should have started glazing by now, but I have a couple more days of throwing and then same story as always, I'll be praying I can get everything glazed, lustred and through the kilns in time. If so, I will have some of these Tall Mugs with me!

My 2025 summary.

What an incredible week! I am not even sure where to begin...

It was extremely busy and after not even getting lunch one day, i'm pretty sure I would have gone without a few times, had it not been for shoving bowls of soup in my face!

I have the best friends and the best customers and I want to say thankyou SO much to everyone who took the time to visit me over the past 9 days. It was so good to see you all!

The nicest thing is, so many of you have become friends over time. I don't expect anything at all but you always turn up to show your support and bring me flowers, homemade jam, homegrown veg, hand sewn cakes, treats for Albert & Myrtle and surprise me with lunch or dinner. I know I am insanely lucky to know such great people 🥰

I won't lie, I am pretty shattered now so I think i'll go off grid for a day or two! Then I will be back in the workshop, doing what I love most, being creative.
