After a long, hot journey yesterday I completed my 1054 mile round trip for my working holiday to Potfest Suffolk!

What a week! It was great to be back in Haughley Park again after first exhibiting there in 2023. The nicest thing was to see returning customers who had bought my work then, and also hearing they missed me last year!

Thanks so much to Matt and the Potfest crew for making everything so seamless.

One bonus about travelling for work means its the perfect opportunity to spend time with friends and family. This is probably the only advantage of having them dotted around the country!

Not only did help me set up, he took me to see the sights of Suffolk on Monday. It was the perfect way to rest and reboot after a busy weekend before my big drive north. We swam in the sea and ate ice cream. It was just what I needed. Also, thankyou so much to .dawson , , as well, for all your help, fun, and looking after me. Hopefully we can do it all again another time!

The enthusiasm I received for my work and display this weekend was unbelievable. Sometimes I find it hard to accept compliments but it really was very encouraging and refreshing to hear such positive feedback, so thankyou very much.

I'm home feeling happy and grateful for lovely people, great customers, good weather, good times, creativity and Mrs.Tibbs, the air bnb cat 🥰

Good morning, it's Day 2 of Potfest Haughley Park!

As well as all the exhibitors stands the competition pieces are absolutely amazing here. The theme this year is Famous Quotes and Sayings.

I made 2 new pairs of knickers to add to the line up! "Day pants" and "Empire Biscuit Pants" (edible pants for those of you who are into that sort of thing 😉)!

I hung all my knickers on the line, but sadly a big gust of wind blew them over yesterday, so I've had to improvise and lay them on the ground today.

There have been lots of lovely customers and visitors so far today.

Potfest is on until 4.30pm today and tomorrow!

I have a humongous job on my to do list. It is a task I am dreading. I need to re photograph all my product images for the website. When I make for an event I have multiple items of each product, so theroetically now would be the perfect time to do it.

However, with 9 colour ranges, that means nearly 200 products to photograph, and the thing I don't have right now is the time! Packing up and loading the van usually takes about 2 days in itself and making sure I'm ready to leave on time on Wednesday is priority!

When I moved to my new workshop I planned to have a dedicated photography area indoors. This would allow me to contol the lighting and keep everything consistent, but I haven't figured out the best space for it yet. Hopefully I will be able to make it happen before the year is over.

These Golden Azalea Tall Mugs are wrapped and ready for the roadtrip to Haughley Park. Potfest Suffolk is this weekend, Friday - Sunday.

Packing continues tomorrow... 🥱

This is just a reminder that summer is salad season!

Being so busy lately means it's hard to factor in any sort of social life so sometimes the only chance I get to see friends is at lunch or dinner time. To my horror a few of them suggested soup. Soup!!! Can you believe it? I said " It's summer. It's salad season!" I firmly believe that soup should only be eaten between the end of September and March, possibly early April, with only one exception, if you are sick!

Are you a soup in summer kind of person? If you want to eat soup, by all means go ahead, who am I to say you shouldn't, but i'll stick with salad until Spetember thanks!

Todays salads are all delicious -
Three Bean, Carrot with Sesame seeds, Roasted Fennel & Pepper with Mange Tout all from the Avoca Salads recipe book.

Cuuuute!

I got this little Bud Vase out of the kiln yesterday. It is so teeny and cute. I think it looks great with a pop of pink!

It will be coming to Potfest Suffolk with me next week!

Good morning!

This is my favourite way to start the day in summer (if its not raining!).

Coffee and homemade Granola from my handmade tableware, at my picnic bench listening to the water and birds.

This morning features an original Turquoise Polka Dot Mug, old school Pastel Dreamscape Breakfast Bowl in Yellow and the Pink Polka Dot Large Jug, which I prototyped well over a year ago and still have not managed to get around to making them to sell. I always have great intentions, but life is so busy... One day!

After some more kiln issues, everything seems to be going ok now with my Potfest Suffolk preparations, but I am not taking anything for granted just yet. Only 1 week to go before I need to start packing up! At the moment I have 2 more full days of glazing, and then on to lustering. It's better not to think about how much I have to do and just take it one day at a time.

Have a good Monday!

I have had a lot of lovely feedback about my Berry Bowls recently. Some customers have even told me they can't imagine life without them now!

It was my last weekend throwing for Potfest Suffolk. I'm cutting it to the wire as always! Thankfully it has been warm and I was able to trim and fettle all 80 pots today.

I'm not sure if I will be able to get the amount of work I've made through the kilns in time, but I will start glazing tomorrow and in 2 weeks and 2 days, we'll see how much work is coming with me!

The workshop is busier than usual at the moment as I prepare for .co.uk, and try to take some time off!

The difference in temperature and humidity this week compared to last is crazy! Last week the air was so damp, everything took ages to dry. This week its really hot and everything is drying too quickly! Therefore life in the workshop is much more difficult and my schedule has gone completely out the window!

I am making some progress though. I have started bisque firing for Potfest (yes that means the kiln is on so its even hotter than you can possibly imagine in the workshop!) and I have been getting some work done in the garden, ready to welcome you with tea and cake during Open Studios in September.

The more I do to make this place my own, the more I love it and I can't wait to show you!

I love making these bottles. No weighing or measuring. Just throwing, and letting the clay guide me. Each one completely unique.

These will be coming to my next .co.uk event with me. I'm really looking forward to returning to Haughley Park and having a working holiday in the beautiful English countryside again!

Potfest Suffolk is 8th - 10th August,2025.
You can buy your tickets in advance from the potfest website.

On this day last year my friends and I built my workshop! We got the whole structure up and half the roof on in one day, quite an achievment when you think about it!

One year on and I cannot describe how much I love going to work here. The stresses of planning, preparation and building were 100% worth it.

I feel as busy as ever but have also somehow managed to get a better work life balance, which I'm hoping will continue!

Happy Anniversary Dream Team!

Some customers at Potfest came to buy a new mug. They explained how they gave all their Tea with Jud cups and mugs a name. They have one of my original cups from years ago and it is called Conan, after Conan Doyle, because it is cone shaped!

One of the Golden Mugs is called "Fairy" and another Small Mug is called "Stumpy"!

Each mug hosts a different drink and instead of saying "tea of coffee..?" The couple ask each other "Which mug?"

It is so nice to have these conversations with customers and hear about how my pottery fits into their lives, taking on a new persona after it leaves my workshop!

They bought a Heart of the Day Mug, so naturally I asked what they were going to name this one? They both looked at each other and said in sync, "Hearty"
