REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY INFORMATION PLUS GENERAL CHURCH SERVICE INFO FOR NOVEMBER
Sunday 10 November REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY
10am: SERVICE of REMEMBRANCE at Christ Church Walmsley
11am: REMEMBRANCE SERVICE of THE WORD at St. Andrew’s Church, BX
For the special Service of Remembrance at Christ Church Walmsley, we will follow the pre-arranged format carried out across the country.
The parade forms up in Bromley Cross at the Health Centre car park at 9.15am, including the local Uniformed organisations (Scouts, Guides, etc). At 9.30am, they then parade up to Christ Church Walmsley in Egerton to join the service which starts at 10.00am. During this service the Standards will be presented at the Altar. After the Service, the Parade reforms on the church drive. We then process to the Cenotaph at Dunscar War Memorial – with the choir and congregation following - in time to continue the service for 11.00am with a short act of worship. WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.
Thank you to Ken Holt for providing details of proceedings.
REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY AT DUNSCAR WAR MEMORIAL
Details shared by our local Councillors on social media:
On Sunday 10th November, we will come together again at Dunscar War Memorial as a community to remember those men and women who fell in the line of duty and never came home. Organised by the three local councillors, Cllr Samantha Connor, Cllr Amy Cowen, and Cllr Nadim Muslim, alongside Walmsley Church, the service brings together the community in an act of remembrance.
The parade of uniformed groups will commence at 09:30 from Dunscar Health Centre and march up Darwen Road, past the War Memorial, to Christ Church Walmsley.
There will be a church service in Christ Church Walmsley commencing at 10:00.
Service at Dunscar War Memorial itself will commence at 10:45. Please gather from 10:30.
A short, poignant service that will include the Last Post, the 2 minute silence at 11:00, and wreath laying.
(Please confirm any wreath requirements with Cllr Samantha Connor)
There was a staggering turn-out from all ages last year. Please do your very best to attend.
We have arranged for a rolling road block on parade day for traffic management & safety; please be aware of road closures.
Please share the timetable above and also try to pass this message on to those family members and friends you know who are not on social media.
How lovely that ladies from ‘Women who Walk and Socialise’ locally have created such beautiful poppy installations at Dunscar War Memorial.
