As I am always looking for ways to improve things in the Bunker, ( be it big or small improvements ) I wanted to try something out.

I want to see how everyone gets on with leaving the guitar amps in this position. My logic is that it should give a better mix of all the instruments and vocals as the majority of the directional sound is all coming from one place ( just like how we listen to music in headphones/speakers).
With Bass being more omni directional I think the bass amp will gel with the mix from anywhere in the room.
Small side benefit, there will be more space in the middle of the room 🤷‍♂️

Btw please ignore the burst kick drum head haha
Someone ( not naming anyone, but you know who you are 👀😂) managed to burst it with the raw power of their playing!! Didn’t think that was possible but here we are 😂

Hearing Protection

I will be placing these around the bunker advising everyone to wear hearing protection.

It is definitely something that the music industry as a whole has taken more seriously recently than it has in the past. However, I still feel it is largley ignored!
-
So I would urge all musicians to invest in some hearing protection for on stage and in rehearsals. I know its not as fun as a new guitar, fx pedal or cymbal, but it is essential!

Haven taken dB readings from outside the rooms of around 90dB I can quite confidently say inside the rooms will be above 100dB! At this level permanent hearing damage can occur within 20 minutes.

A cheap set of musician ear plugs will cost you around £20, which in my opinion is a small price to pay to protect your ears so you can continue to enjoy playing & listening to music.

Well, the third room is finally up and running.
Wooo!! 😱

Took a lot longer than I thought it would, regardless it’s turned out better than I hoped😁

I am now taking bookings for this room, however not through the online system.
Please get in touch via phone, text, email and DM.

Individual musicians can book the room at a reduced hourly rate at £10 an hour and DON’T have to book the full 3 hour slot like the other rooms.

Recently just upgraded the front rooms mixer to a Mackie Onyx 12! Was planning to do it in a few months but the old mixer broke so.....
-
This desk has the ability to do stereo demo recordings to an SD card, so next will be to get a few mics and some more XLR's.

Hopefully in the future im thinking some live streaming from the bunker will be a cool thing to do.

Been doing some tests in the rooms, using REW & Sonarworks's test mic to see what acoustically could be improved & and the results are kinda what I expected.

There is a lot more low end / bass reverberating around the rooms when the high end dies out quite quickly (specifically there is a resonance in the front room around 60hz). My theory is that the carpet on the walls and floor is absorbing most of the frequencies above 2khz, some of 300hz to 2khz but just letting everything below 300hz go daft.

My solution is to start introducing some more hi end back into the rooms in the way of diffusion, whilst adding more lowend absorbers so the rooms have a more flat, controlled response. This won't deal with the 60hz resonance but I have a plan for that 😁

Just at the end of last year we finally managed to get the new AC system installed! 😱

I know the last couple years haven't been great for the music industry but I am hopeful that this year will be better.

Finally gonna get started on fixing up some of the guitars!

This one is first on the list and I thought the construction site of the third room fitted well with the sate this guitar is in 😂

It will need new electronics (probably installing split coils), bridge & tailpiece.
Could change the colour scheme to black & gold🤔 Which would invole new machine heads but I could get locking ones.
would love to hear some other opinions.

It's a bit of a mess at the moment but we are making progress. Next step is to insulate and seal up the ceiling structure.

If you'd like to book a slot for next week, best to do it soon as there isnt many slots left.
Also, to book a time out with the times on the booking system, just give me a phone and I will accommodate as best I can.

Think I am happy with this look for the third room, however panel positions and colours might change depending on available material.

with regards to guitar amps in the room, I think I have settled on the Hughes & Kettner Tube Meister deluxe 40's.
Every demo I have listened to they sound great and seem very versatile.
