When I had my first child, every month, we would buy cakes from the supermarket to celebrate. They were cheap but I was really disappointed with how they tasted and how they looked.
-Welcome back to the 3rd Episode of Baby’s Monthly Cakes where I share the cakes I make every month until he turns 1 year old! -
At one point, I had to redecorate those cakes to make them look more colourful and lively. I used readymade frosting and my first cake decorating tools were from Poundland (back when everything was still a pound).
They were not the best tools but they scratched my cake decorating itch.
One time, we felt fancy and decided to buy a proper cake from a cake shop on the high street. It was a big one. So we had to keep the leftovers in the fridge. 3 weeks have passed and it still looked good. By that time, I started doubting if it was a real cake!!! How much preservatives were in that zombie cake?! 🧟♀️
Later on, I taught myself how to bake my own cakes to avoid zombie cakes. After lots of trial and errors, a bunch of bad recipes, a few underbaked cakes that I offered to my friends 😅 (sorry friends, and thank you for trying them). The rest was history.
I feel so happy that this time around, I can make cakes that I like and my family loves.
*They’re no longer underbaked (most of the time) 😂
*We never had zombie cakes for our celebrations ever again.
