💣Why your clinic’s Facebook ads bombed 💣

Recently I spoke to some aesthetic clinic owners who invested in Facebook ad campaigns which didn’t deliver new patients. They’re angry at their marketing agencies, who they believe ran terrible ads.

It’s horrible to see no ROI on your spend. And yes, the marketers sucked. But the ads might not have been to blame.

See, it’s not easy to convert cold leads even with fantastic ads.

When you advertise on FB, you’re taking people who never heard of you 5 minutes ago and shouting: “Do CoolSculpting with us! How about younger skin!?”

Some might be interested enough to fill in a form.

You get excited about your new lead.

Still, most of those people don’t know you and weren’t actively searching for a treatment.

Some will still be ready to buy. You can convert them fast with intense follow-up (or low prices).

But the rest will take longer. You must nurture them long-term, building their desire for the treatment which piqued their interest til they’re ready to book.

That takes time, patience & content, not a quick campaign. You can do it before showing people an ad or afterwards.

Either way marketing is a long-game. And those ads are just one part of a larger puzzle.

Recently I’ve taken up tennis. I’m a little obsessed, taking 3-4 classes a week.

And the weird thing? Ever since I started playing, I see tennis everywhere.

Suddenly one of my friends has started posting about her matches on Facebook. Weird, I never realized she played.

Aesthetic clinic owners, if you want your marketing to succeed, you need to get specific!

1. Target a specific PERSON – Don’t try and reach “everyone”, go for a particular demographic.

2. Target a specific PROBLEM – Don't talk generalities about “the answer to your skin problems” but zero in on a particular issue, like puffy eyes or stubborn fat.

3. Make a specific PROMISE – Don’t offer vague assurances that “you’ll look better” but give people a specific outcome to look forward to.

E.g., “Imagine finally being able to wear the fitted shirts you love”…

4. Promote a specific PRODUCT. It can be one treatment, a combination or a program… but you do need to show people you have a mechanism to help them.

5. Finally, the most successful campaigns have a specific PATH TO ACTION.

They don’t force people to hunt around your website for your contact details.

Make it very easy for them to get in touch, mapping out exactly what they’re expected to do next (“click here before 5pm”).

When you get that specific, your target market will feel like you’re talking directly to them…

They’ll know you understand their needs and goals completely…

They’ll believe you can help them…

And they’ll have a direct route to get that help.

It’s the quickest path from “advertising” to “revenue”.

What’s it like to go from aesthetic clinic owner to employee, once you sell your practice to a larger chain?

That’s exactly what happened to Dr.Erum Ilyas, who sold her 3 thriving clinics in Pennsylvania to Schweiger Dermatology Group.

On our recent podcast, she discussed why she decided this was the best option, even though she was far from retirement and had no intention of scaling back. On the contrary - she was looking for the best way to grow her practice.
