We love this old postcard of the Lansdowne from the early 1900s showing the ill-fated Metropole Hotel, which was devastated in a WW2 air raid on 23 May 1943. The popular Metropole Market returns to town this month named in tribute to this Victorian landmark.

Phew! It doesn't matter how hectic your day, Bournemouth's Lower Gardens remains beautifully serene. This blissful greenspace is popular retreat for lunch breaks from work or bit of fresh air between the shops. Editor Kate's enduring memory is lighting the lanterns in the stream in the summer (while trying to resist the temptation to go for a dip!) What's your favourite memory of Bournemouth Gardens?

Lend a hand to brighten up the beach on Sunday as part of Plastic Free Bournemouth’s first beach cleaning event.

Plastic Free Bournemouth is joining the Surfers Against Sewage Big Spring Beach Clean to collect litter along the town’s busiest stretch of sand between Boscombe and Bournemouth Piers.

Everyone is welcome from 10:30am to help tackle the pressing problem of plastic pollution. Simply sign in at Boscombe Pier, grab some litter pick equipment (or even better bring your own) and play a part in conserving our coast.

Why not rope in the kids to help spring clean Bournemouth’s seven sandy miles (and offset all those Easter eggs!) at the end of the school holidays?
