Eloise not only has had me tailor her gown, but also booked me to do her garment preparation and dressing service, so last night I steamed all her beautiful bridesmaids dresses and mother of the bride outfit. This morning I'll be helping her dress.

Thank you to all the 2027 MJMakes brides that have booked in for their alterations with me, I can't wait to meet you next year!
Wedding dress alterations and customisations for 2027 dates are now limited in availability, and the opportunity to book for 2028 will open 1st September.
Alterations are carried out in the 4 - 6 weeks leading up to your wedding date, but booking ahead is essential.

5 things you NEED to know when choosing your bridal seamstress...

1. Not all seamstresses specialise in bridal wear. Wedding dresses are constructed very differently from everyday clothing, so specialist experience matters.

2. Ask to see examples of their work. A reputable bridal seamstress should be happy to share photos, reviews and testimonials from previous clients.

3. Find out what is included. Number of fittings, pressing, storage, bustle creation and any customisation work can vary from one seamstress to another.

4. Book early. The best bridal seamstresses often fill their diaries months, sometimes over a year, in advance.

5. Choose someone you trust. You'll be spending several hours together throughout the alteration process, so feeling comfortable, listened to and understood is just as important as technical skill.

Your wedding dress deserves expert care, so don't be afraid to ask questions before booking.
