🎧 End of an Era for MTV Music Channels 🎧
Music has been my life. Back in the 80s, I vividly remember the start of MTV – a revolution that changed how we experienced music forever. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed their varied projects and the incredible energy they brought to the music scene.
That’s why this news feels bittersweet:
On 31 December 2025, MTV officially ended its music-only channels across the UK and Europe, including MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV, and MTV Live.
These channels went dark as part of a global restructuring by Paramount Skydance, MTV’s parent company.
The closures didn’t stop here – they also affected regions like France, Germany, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Brazil, and Australia.
For those of us who remember the start of music videos on repeat, and in my case the first video discos (Darryl Hayden, Tony Patti) this truly marks the end of an era.
