Maddie, our apprentice photographer, spotted that a Yorkshire distillery we'd previously photographed had won gold for one of its whiskies, and duly filed stock images to all the papers. The Yorkshire Post used one on its cover today.

He was frequently the focus of Guzelian's coverage, particularly as he campaigned for a third parliamentary term in the late 1980s.

Farewell to David Calvert, one of the country's longest serving players with a single band who passed away on 23 August, days after celebrating his 85th birthday. He devoted 73 years to the Langholm Town Band in Dumfrieshire – the oldest continuous brass band in Scotland – having joined when he was twelve. The Observer and the Sun published two of our pictures from Saturday's asylum protest at the Cedar Court hotel in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. The hotel was founded in 1985 by the late George Demetriou, who had migrated from Cyprus in 1957 amid strife between Greek and Turkish Cypriots formented in part by British colonial rule. He went on to open restaurants, coffee shops and five hotels across Yorkshire while still finding time to follow Leeds United, a passion shared by some of Saturday's protestors.
