🚨🏡One of the first major decisions Keighley and Ilkley’s next Member of Parliament will have to make is whether to support Labour-run Bradford Council’s “local plan”, which will decide whether or not over 3,000 new houses are to be built across our area in the coming years.
➡️ You can see how many new houses are planned for your area here: https://www.robbiemoore.org.uk/campaigns/protecting-our-greenbelt
🪧Over the past 4 and a half years, I have always stood on the side of local people on this issue.
🏡In places like Silsden, for example, where the total number of houses planned over recent years totals nearly 1000, I have led the fight alongside local people to oppose these new developments - our town simply cannot cope with the barrage of new housing developments being unleashed on our area by Bradford Council.
🫂If re-elected as your local MP on Thursday, 4th July residents should know that I will always have their back on this issue,
✅My pledge to you is that I will ONLY support new houses where the infrastructure to support them is properly in place, I will NOT support greenbelt development without significant local support, and where housebuilding does occur I will support a brownfield-first approach. I will also work with councillors of all political parties who agree with my approach on this issue.
Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the Labour Party.
❌ Locally, Labour-run Bradford Council have ignored local opposition time and time again, pushing through new housing developments across our area - often on greenbelt land and in the face of thousands of local objections.
❌ Locally, Labour’s candidate is a strong supporter of Bradford Council. He supported their refusal of the referendum on keeping Keighley’s green space green and supported Bradford Council's failed Leader Susan Hinchcliffe to be West Yorkshire’s Mayor.
❌ And nationally, Keir Starmer has pledged to ‘bulldoze’ through local opposition to new housebuilding, employing more of the same tactics we have seen locally by Bradford Council.
✅The choice at the general election couldn’t be clearer.
