Darren’s love affair with house music began on the dancefloors of the UK in the early ’90s. Inspired by legendary nights like Renaissance in Mansfield and the genre-defining sets of Sasha and Ian Ossia, he quickly moved from the crowd to the decks, driven by a passion to control the energy of the dancefloor.
His first major breakthrough came with a residency at the iconic Tall Trees for the night “Culture,” playing to 3,000 ravers weekly. The night became so influential it caught the attention of BBC Radio 1, which brought its Essential Selection tour to the club, drawing in 6,000 people across two rooms. Darren went on to play in Ibiza as part of the Culture tour alongside Love to Be, and his sets featured on Galaxy FM and DJ Disciple’s Transatlantic Mix Show.
Not one to rest on past glories, Darren launched his own nights called ‘Loaded’ with his brother Ricardo , blending house music with live instrumentation—percussion, saxophone, and acoustic guitar—under the ‘Funkstars’ name. His innovative approach to performance led to bookings across the UK and beyond.
Before relocating to Perth, Western Australia, Darren hosted ‘My House’, a bi-weekly deep house radio show on Northern Underground, and held a residency for Michiko at Pacha London. Now based in Perth, he continues to bring his signature sound to the city’s most stylish events—exclusive rooftop and pool parties for Grooveyard, Kinky Malinki, and HABITAT, and laid-back sunset sessions at Oceans 27.
In the studio, Darren is carving out a fresh sonic identity. His debut track ‘4 Words’, released on PHD London, was even played on the legendary Terrace at Space, Ibiza. Most recently, his new release ‘Tan Lines’ on M-Sol Records stormed the Traxsource charts, holding the No. 1 spot for an impressive three weeks—solidifying his reputation as a producer to watch in the deep house and Disco scene.
Darren is very excited to come play for the re-groove brand for the first time and very much hope you all enjoy the 1 hour mix he has specially put togethor for you all .
