The College of Medicine and Integrated Health is launching two evidence-informed 8-week programmes, using Yogic and Ayurvedic principles to support the health and wellness of everyone, including those whose physical or mental health has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. The programmes are free and start on the 9th of March 2021, they are open to anyone eligible from the UK who feel they would benefit, they can self-refer or may be recommended by a clinician.
We would be grateful if you could spread this message through your networks. The program website gives much more information about how to join the programs, the presenters and information about each session (https://www.ayuryoga-programmes.co.uk).
There have been many pandemics over the millennia, many wisdom traditions created advice and therapies to support the resistance of the body to the disease, especially when there were no curative treatments. These programmes use the wisdom of the practices of Yoga and Ayurveda from Indian Traditional Medicine and incorporates the current evidence informed benefits into the programmes. We have created weekly education sessions that helps us use simple self-care techniques to support our emotional and physical health, widen our window of tolerance and increase our mind-body resilience.
We are all very aware how damaging the pandemic has been for us, our families and our communities. We also know the impact on us physically, emotionally and economically has not been equal. Our valiant NHS and the staff have been stretched and stressed to almost breaking point. These programmes have real value in complementing what is being done to keep us healthy and safe; by making us more resistant to disease, heal quicker when we get sick and deal better with any damage that illness leaves behind.
This initiative has been created as a collaboration between the College of Medicine and AYUSH Health Ministry of India, represented by the All India Institute of Ayurveda and follows discussions between HRH Prince Charles and Prime Minister Modi, when the Indian Prime Minister visited the UK in 2018.
