A little collared axe I made playing around in the forge today.
Still needs heat treat and sharpening.

Forged out of an old adze eye claw hammer with a little bit of file work to smarten it up.

Only just enough material in the old hammer head to get a decent blade

Handle is made from a 16 inch hickory engineers hammer handle shaved down to suit.

A fun little project and quite a nice aesthetic

Blacksmiths tool rack (brackets only)
Laser cut from 5mm mild steel plate

All you do is bend the lugs to 90 degrees using a vice and hammer or small press, mount on the wall using serbolts(for masonry) or coach screws(for wood) and slot in some 8mm bar at your desired spacing for the racking.

Looks great and works great with hammers, axes, tongs, pots and pans(with s-hooks) , and anything you need to organise and store in a neat fashion.

A visit from four farriers (two masters and two apprentices) to make their own driving hammers - used to drive and cut horse shoe nails.
The guys worked their socks off and made some great hammers using only hand hammers and some basic tooling.

A fantastic day in the forge with some fantastic students 👍💪🔥

An excellent, although very hot, day in the forge

Today I was very happy to welcome back to the forge Iain and Steve for a class on making blacksmiths tongs.

We each made a pair of combination flat bits and employed a mix of power hammer and hand forging techniques.

The guys worked hard and were great company for the day, as usual.
