Well… what can we say?! 💙

The CROYDE 2026 NEW YEARS DAY FANCY DRESS DIP was an absolute explosion of colour on the beach! You all went above and beyond with your costumes….from Superman and Superwoman to Ninja Turtles, Mermaids, Angels and even a flock of SEA-gals 🐦🌊

The atmosphere was buzzing as everyone came together to raise funds for Wave Project, Access For All and The Bluetits Chill Swimmers. Thank you so much for your generosity…your support will truly help make a difference 💙

A huge thank you to John Fowler Holiday Parks for supporting the event and allowing us to use the beach for our festive dip 🥳

We couldn’t have done it without our brilliant compère Ben Byrom, the amazing team from Baggy Bluetits Cold Water Swimmers 💙 and topless marathon runner Louise Bernadette Butcher for getting us all warmed up and stretched out pre our chilly dip 🥶

Big thanks also to all at Thatch Croyde, SaltrockSoul, The Manor Croyde, The Beach Hut, Ralphs Surf Shop, King's Arms Georgeham and Rock Inn for kindly donating prizes for our best dressed, and to Earth Action North Devon for providing litter pickers and bags to help keep our beach clean 🌍

It was so heart-warming to see everyone come together on the beach, embracing the thrill of the chill and cheering each other on. The biggest thank you of all goes to everyone who joined in…..you kickstarted 2026 with laughter and joy and long may it continue 🤩

With lots of new dippers joining us tomorrow for the CROYDE 2026 NEW YEARS DAY FANCY DRESS DIP we thought that we would share some useful info which may help you with preparing for your dip 💦

The Baggy Bluetits are a super friendly and encouraging group who will be there on the day. They will be more than happy to answer any of your swim related questions, so please feel free to ask and we will do our very best to help, but remember we are not experts! We are a group of men and women who meet up regularly to dip so that we are not dipping alone🧜‍♀️

A few people have contacted us to say they don’t have the ‘right kit’ to join us!

Please do not feel obligated or pressured into buying anything for the dip. A big coat can be just as good as any changing robe 🧥

After your dip remove your wet clothes as soon as possible. Lots of loose layers of clothing are needed, but old jumpers and leggings are fine…the easier the clothes are to get on quickly after a cold dip, the better!👖

If you are wearing a FANCY DRESS costume then we suggest that you bear in mind it will weigh heavier when wet! A splash around in the shallows or a paddle on the shoreline is just as much fun 🤩

A towel wrapped around a hot water bottle works wonders! Once dry and dressed, you could hug the hot water bottle whilst enjoying a drink from a flask filled with your favourite hot drink, along with a sweet sugary treat ☕️🧁

⚠️Please be aware that you enter the water at your own risk and are solely responsible for yourself in and out of the sea 💦 Please dip responsibly and within your own personal ability. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times⚠️

Homemade veggie and meat lasagna has been bubbling away for 7 hours, ready to feed the crew as they dock in Croyde tomorrow for one of their end-of-season gigs. 🍝✨
