We are delighted to announce that Seren Books and Poetry Wales magazine, the two halves of Poetry Wales Press, have been awarded a $30,000 grant from the Hawthornden Foundation.

As one of only two UK-based publishers to be approached by the foundation for this round of funding we are pleased to have been recognised for our hard work and stellar reputations, especially in a time of unprecedented financial pressure for the Arts and Literary sector in Wales.

"Reviews are an essential component of the literary community—they act as the bridge between poet and reader, dissolving the boundaries between the often exclusive and insular realms of academia and literature to a wider audience." - wise words from our newest team member, Frances Cannon.

🎉 Cover reveal for our Summer issue 🎊

Diolch yn fawr to Gethin Evans for this gorgeous painting, chosen because it reflects the international theme of the issue - a scene that could equally be found at lido in Wales, by a pool in the South of France, in a landlocked US state, or anywhere else around the globe.

Featuring an electrifying interview with the Rock Star of North American poetry Eileen Myles, a feature on the short poem headed up by bestseller Dean Atta, and advice from Seren Books' very own Head of Marketing about how to promote yourself as a writer - as well as, of course, a heck of a lot of fantastic new poetry - this is the perfect issue to bring with you wherever your summer takes you, be it pool, beach, lake or paddling pool.

We've just sent this issue off to print - pre-order now to get it as soon as it's available: https://poetrywales.co.uk/product/summer-2025/
