🕊️ Remembering Paul Brabban

It is with great sadness that we share the news that our friend and fellow BHR Wales volunteer, Paul Brabban, sadly passed away peacefully on Saturday 8th August 2026.

Paul came to volunteer with BHR Wales for a particularly meaningful reason. Having spent a considerable amount of time in hospital himself, he wanted to give something back to the staff and patients he had encountered along the way.

Through hospital radio, Paul was able to do just that – generously giving his time to bring music, entertainment and companionship to others.

And music was certainly something Paul knew a lot about!

He had an incredible knowledge of music and a wonderfully eclectic taste. You could never quite predict what might appear on Paul's playlist, and that was something we all loved about him. His passion for music, along with the conversations and memories it created, will be very fondly remembered by his friends and fellow volunteers at BHR Wales.

This Monday, we will be dedicating our programming to Paul and celebrating his life and contribution to BHR Wales.

During The BHR Breakfast Show, Bill Everatt will be joined by fellow presenter Stewart Critchlow as they share their memories of Paul and reflect on the friend and volunteer they knew.

Later, Stewart will present a special edition of his show dedicated to Paul, with music and memories as we celebrate a much-loved member of the BHR Wales family.

It feels particularly fitting that we should remember Paul through music and radio – two things that brought him to our station and gave us so many happy memories together.

At this incredibly difficult time, everyone at BHR Wales extends our heartfelt condolences to Paul’s wife, Claire, and to all of his family and friends.

Paul came to BHR Wales wanting to give something back to the hospital community that had been there for him. In doing so, he became part of our community too – and one that will not forget him.

Thank you for everything, Paul.

Rest in peace. You will be greatly missed. 🕊️

Learn how to protect your eyes whilst watching the partial solar eclipse!

We probably shouldn’t have to say this, but don’t look directly at the sun. Looking directly at the sun without the right protection can cause permanent damage to your eyesight – so you need to take care. Remember, your normal sunglasses may look great, but they won't cut it.

Join Bill Everatt on the BHR Breakfast Show as he speaks to Barbara Chidgey, founder and chair of Daring to Dream - The Emotional Health Charity , a Wales-based charity supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of adults living with physical illness.

Daring to Dream works across Wales to highlight the emotional impact of illness — creating vital “spaces to talk” in hospitals, including quiet rooms, relatives’ rooms and ward day rooms, where patients, families and staff can have important conversations in a calm and supportive environment.

The charity also supports wellbeing activities and services for inpatients and outpatients, helping people feel heard, comforted and less alone during difficult times.

The temporary disruption to the water supply at Princess of Wales Hospital is now resolving,

Our Emergency Department is now able to accept patients as normal.

We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding this evening as Welsh Water Dwr Cymru work to resolve this issue.
